I was going to put up something about how the next phase of my life was law school, and that was basically the pain of being away from my loved ones (especially Philosofette, before we were married (third year of law school was much better!)), and maybe go with "Leaving On A Jet Plane." But I couldn't find a version of it I liked.
Instead I'm jumping ahead to my "discovering older music I never knew about" phase, which is really where I still am today. This also seems a fitting song for my birthday.

Maybe this is well known, but I figured out why skanking was the dance at ska shows.
I was an usher at a friends' Saturday wedding and had tickets to Del the Funky Homosapien/ Heiroglyphics on Sunday. Rental tux wasn't due back until Monday, so what the hell and I wore the tux to the show. As I tried to figure out the comfortable way to dance in the tux i ended up in a skank. It's pretty much the only way to dance comfortably in a suit. Can't raise your arms too high.
That is awesome.
