Didn't catch much of the game yesterday (or at any point in the past 10 days...) due to moving. I did see Hicks was a HR short of the cycle and that rookie Chris Herrmann jacked his first career homerun. Doumit, Consensual Pork and Dozier also found the bleachers as the Twins combined for 16 hits.
A bit more after the jump.
Diamond notched his first win in nearly a month, going six scoreless innings while allowing only 4 hits and lowering his ERA from 5.22 to 4.66.
Twins are 25-29, 7-3 in their last 10 games, third in the Central and only 4.5 games behind first place Detroit.
Up next: a trip to Kansas City to take on the slumping Royals (2-8 in their last 10 games).
Also, the MLB draft starts this Thursday (I think) where the Twins hold the fourth overall pick. Snagging another player like Buxton would be alright by me.
Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals sees Boston, sporting a 1-0 series lead, taking on Pittsburgh tonight at 8:00 pm ET on NBCSN. Chicago beat LA last night to take a 2-0 series lead in the West.
Finally, there's a basketball game tonight that should be pretty good. Tip-off is at 8:30 pm ET on TNT. I'd love to see Stern's head asplode with a Finals match-up of Indiana v. San Antonio. However, I don't expect Miami LBJ to lose.
More importantly, what's their record compared to last year?
Here's the Gardy era for the first 54 games of each season.
This year is the exact same record as the 2006 Division championship.
But with a better run differential. The run prevention in 2006 was really bad in the first third of the season. This year's looks pretty good, but I think the decline in offense in MLB is contributing the most to that.
-93 in 2011. Woof.
Now all the Twins have to do is get rid of Castro, Batista, Stewart, and White. I'm not sure where they're going to find their Santana/Liriano, though.
Gibson/Deduno!!
