Game 67: Twins vs. White Sox

Another Tuesday Another Pelfrey (3-6, 6.12 ERA) vs. Axelrod (3-4, 4.26 ERA)

So the Twins and the White Sox both stink, although the Twins stink a game and a half better. Hopefully, Pelfrey can continue with his recent decent pitching tonight, although I would still prefer to see someone like a Kyle Gibson starting games for the Twins, but that might just be me.

I don't really know anything about Axelrod. A quick look at his numbers show a guy who is meh to crappy, and who's not striking out as many guys this year as last. So that's good news for the Twins. Hopefully, the Twins can add a little space between them and the dumpster.

    1. I'm listening to the Twins feed for the first time in quite a while. Something I'd forgotten about that annoys me from Bert is how he talks about what pitchers have to do "in today's game." He adds this qualifier all the time. Does he figure we're going to assume he means back when he played? He's calling a game in 2013. He doesn't have to mention that his commentary relates to the 2013 game.

        1. I'm starting to really like Cory Provus. Dazzle is, well, Dazzle, but even he seems better when paired with Provus than he did with Gordo.

            1. agreed. i believe i noted recently that atteberry actually had the nerve to challenge dazzle that maybe mauer's lack of RsBI wasn't a "blight on his record", but, perhaps, out of his control. you know, what with the dreck hitting on front of him and all...

    1. he was holding his own for a while, but the month of June the bottom has fallen out. Entered the months batting .269, coming into the game .227 (5 hits in 44 at bats)

  1. I spent 3 hours tonight at the bicycle co-op working on my bike rehab project. I had a lot of fun, and I'm going back on Thursday to finish up. I should have a pretty bitchin' bike when I'm done. Next step is to get my sleeping bag and backpack from my parents next month and buy a tent and I'm ready for an adventure.

    1. one of these days, Im going to buy myself a new bicycle.
I have a old, used 10 speed that does the job fine (I bike to and from work. all downhill going, all uphill coming back), but I think I need one where I can go a bit off road sometimes.

          1. If the three were consecutive, that still counts as a sweep.
Happened for the Twins earlier this year.

              1. Someone called it a sweep: Strib writer, Twins Twitter, someone like that.
                & got mocked.

                1. @Twins used it and Perkins mocked it.

                  Here it is:

  2. The Royals had a 3-1 lead and five outs to get to be back above .500.
When the next out was recorded, it was the sac fly that plated the winning run for the Clevelands.

  3. Ramon Troncoso's mugshot:
    Troncoso, 2013
He looks like he could be the lovechild of GMKW EVPKW and Ozzie.

    1. Maybe not. I looked up EVPKW's photo, and I was picturing wrong guy. Which baseball man am I thinking of?

  4. Hawk says that Perkins won't overpower ya...next pitch 96mph fastball strikeout caught looking.

  5. Our awesome leadoff man triggers a two-out rally! Ryan Doumit comes through in the clutch! We're still on track for 126-36!
