Another Tuesday Another Pelfrey (3-6, 6.12 ERA) vs. Axelrod (3-4, 4.26 ERA)
So the Twins and the White Sox both stink, although the Twins stink a game and a half better. Hopefully, Pelfrey can continue with his recent decent pitching tonight, although I would still prefer to see someone like a Kyle Gibson starting games for the Twins, but that might just be me.
I don't really know anything about Axelrod. A quick look at his numbers show a guy who is meh to crappy, and who's not striking out as many guys this year as last. So that's good news for the Twins. Hopefully, the Twins can add a little space between them and the dumpster.
Fire 'er up, guys.
Jim Joyce is behind the plate. "stri-EEEEEEEEEEEEEEK"
ahh, another chance to be soothed by the dulcet tones of the hawk. what a treat!
*shakes head* Asking Clete to lead off is like asking the dog to take out the trash.
His career .325 OBP looks great compared to what the Twins' leadoff hitters have done so far this year.
no, doesn't look great, sorry
TWINS BASEBALL!!TWINS BASEBALL!!TWINS BASEBALL!!!TWINS BASEBALL!!!
PAUERR!
PAUER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
🙁
YOU CAN PUT IT ON THE BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOARD...YES!
Oh, this is fun.
what the heck is Arcia doing?
Pelfrey is pitching to the score
Joe 'extra bases' Mauer
The Chairman doubles and the people rejoice.
Awesome. Condoning ballot stuffing for Mauer in the All-Star game.
Ventura is a "mellow-type" guy.
I'm listening to the Twins feed for the first time in quite a while. Something I'd forgotten about that annoys me from Bert is how he talks about what pitchers have to do "in today's game." He adds this qualifier all the time. Does he figure we're going to assume he means back when he played? He's calling a game in 2013. He doesn't have to mention that his commentary relates to the 2013 game.
Give me the radio guys any day of the week
I'm starting to really like Cory Provus. Dazzle is, well, Dazzle, but even he seems better when paired with Provus than he did with Gordo.
Agreed. Provus (or Atteberry) keep Dazzle in check much better than Gordo did.
agreed. i believe i noted recently that atteberry actually had the nerve to challenge dazzle that maybe mauer's lack of RsBI wasn't a "blight on his record", but, perhaps, out of his control. you know, what with the dreck hitting on front of him and all...
I loved when they had a Mariners person in their booth, and Atteberry threw Dazzle under the bus re: his stance on all things Ichiro.
Just described De Aza as a "base hit-type" guy.
I can only conjecture how many more runs we'd have right now if I'd remembered to turn off Scout in Gameday earlier than just now.
Unfortunately you'll never know because you turned scout off.
nice double play
So, is BoF down for everyone, or just for me? My first instinct was to head to BoF to ask people if their BoF was down...
temporary
Down for every one or just me?
Well, of course that's a thing.
"If you can see this page and still think we're down, it's just you."
boy, does Florimon go to bat with any kind of plan?
good plan, that is?
he was holding his own for a while, but the month of June the bottom has fallen out. Entered the months batting .269, coming into the game .227 (5 hits in 44 at bats)
what a play by Dozier to get the third out
now would be a good time to pile on some runs
I don't disagree with this sentiment.
I'm glad Willingham struck out.
And that, my friends, is how you call back.
quite safe.
oooh, Florimon looked safe
replay confirms it.
bad call, and Hawk is probably complaining that it went against the Sox still
the hawk and the stone (?) both admitted he was safe.
Im pretty sure Hawk calls him 'The Stone Pony'
I spent 3 hours tonight at the bicycle co-op working on my bike rehab project. I had a lot of fun, and I'm going back on Thursday to finish up. I should have a pretty bitchin' bike when I'm done. Next step is to get my sleeping bag and backpack from my parents next month and buy a tent and I'm ready for an adventure.
one of these days, Im going to buy myself a new bicycle.
I have a old, used 10 speed that does the job fine (I bike to and from work. all downhill going, all uphill coming back), but I think I need one where I can go a bit off road sometimes.
This is the one I saved. It seems pretty rugged. I probably won't go barreling down a mountain on it, but I think it'll do just fine on a non-paved park path.
Casey 'Rick Vaughn' Fien
+2.5
Those are some wild ass pitches.
I'd like for at least one game for a 4-run first to feel like a solid lead.
That would mean you would expect the other team to not score four runs the rest of the game.
it also means we actually score runs in more than one inning, too
The Hosers still haven't played the Tigers? Eeg, the Tigers should coast to victory from here.
Twins hain't played Astros.
the 'stros swept the Pale Hose over the weekend
Aw crep.
Didn't Sox take 1 of 4 from them?
If the three were consecutive, that still counts as a sweep.
Happened for the Twins earlier this year.
Someone called it a sweep: Strib writer, Twins Twitter, someone like that.
& got mocked.
I rely on Atteberry and Hammer for all my non-half-bakedf news
@Twins used it and Perkins mocked it.
Here it is:
Jared Burton has been less than stellar lately.
httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4znd6S64vWI
The Royals had a 3-1 lead and five outs to get to be back above .500.
When the next out was recorded, it was the sac fly that plated the winning run for the Clevelands.
Ramon Troncoso's mugshot:
He looks like he could be the lovechild of
GMKWEVPKW and Ozzie.Maybe not. I looked up EVPKW's photo, and I was picturing wrong guy. Which baseball man am I thinking of?
Ryan Doumit: Hero
WOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
I've gotten lost in the NBA Finals since I remembered tonight's not an off night. Are you guys holding the line?
I've been in and out for similar reasons. Tim Duncan, my goodness.
Hmm. Looks like yes.
Hawk says that Perkins won't overpower ya...next pitch 96mph fastball strikeout caught looking.
38 Ks in 26 2/3 innings. Not overpowering.
Puppies, fireworks, etc.
Our awesome leadoff man triggers a two-out rally! Ryan Doumit comes through in the clutch! We're still on track for 126-36!
