Minor Details: Games of 6/17

The Vanimal throws a seven-inning complete game.  A big day for Antoan Richardson.  Fort Myers wins in the ninth.

ROCHESTER 10, SCRANTON/WILKES-BARRE 1 IN SCRANTON/WILKES-BARRE (GAME 1--SCHEDULED 7 INNINGS)

Batting stars:  Antoan Richardson was 2-for-2 with three walks and a double, scoring twice and driving in one.  Chris Herrmann was 2-for-4 with a trriple, scorrinng twice and drrivinng in two.  Deibinson Romero was 2-for-4 with a walk and a double, scoring once.

Pitching star:  Vance Worley pitched a complete game, giving up one run on nine hits and no walks.

Opposition stars:  Ex-Twin Randy Ruiz was 2-for-3 with a double.  Dan Johnson was 2-for-3 and scored once.

Key inning:  The second.  It was a scoreless tie.  Eric Farris led off the inning with a double.  Doug Bernier was hit by a pitch and Eric Fryer walked to load the bases with none out.  Richardson singled in one and Herrmann hit a sacrrifice fly to drive in a second, putting the Red Wings up 2-0.

SCRANTON/WILKES-BARRE 5, ROCHESTER 3 IN SCRANTON/WILKES-BARRE (GAME 2--SCHEDULED 7 INNINGS)

Batting stars:  James Beresford was 2-for-3 and scored once.  Antoan Richardson was 1-for-3 with a walk and a triple, scoring once and driving in two.

Pitching stars:  None.

Opposition stars:  Starter Graham Stoneburner pitched four innings, allowing one run on two hits and three walks.  Ex-Twin Randy Ruiz was 2-for-3 and scored once.  Bobby Wilson hit a three-run homer.

Key inning:  The fifth.  The RailRiders already led 3-1.  Shairon Martis came in to pitch.  Walter Ibarra led off with a walk and scored on a double by Addison Maruszak.  Maruszak took third on a ground out and scored on a passed ball to make the score 5-1.

FORT MYERS 6, PALM BEACH 5 IN FORT MYERS

Batting stars:  Stephen Wickens was 3-for-4 with a double and a homer (his second), driving in two.  Jairo Rodriguez was 3-for-4 and scored once.  Aderlin Mejia was 2-for-4 with a double, scoring once and driving in two.

Pitching stars:  Adrian Salcedo struck out two in two shutout innings, giving up two hits.  Zach Jones struck out three and pitched 1.2 scoreless innings despite giving up three hits and a walk.

Opposition stars:  David Popkins was 3-for-4 with a walk and scored once.  Juan Castillo was 3-for-4.  Colin Walsh was 2-for-4 with a walk, scoring once and driving in two.

Key inning:  The ninth.  The score was tied at five.  Andy Leer led off with a single.  Levi Michael walked to put runners on first and second.  Mejia laid down a sacrifice bunt, and an error on the play allowed the winning run to score.

DSL TWINS AT DSL DIAMONDBACKS

No report was available.  The last time this happened, it turned out that the game had been rained out, so this may have happened again.  We will provide an update when one becomes available.

    3-for-5 plus four walks, 6 total bases, 3 runs, 3 rbi.
    That slash line is .600/.778/1.200/1.978.

  2. Glad to see a complete game, no-BB performance from Worley. I just wish it didn't involve 9 hits.

    Batting star: Gabriel A. Ynfante was 2-for-4 with a walk and scored once. Rainis Silva was 1-for-2 with two walks and an RBI.

    Pitching stars: Starter Jose Ramirez pitched three shutout innings, giving up three hits and two walks. Ezequiel Zarzuela pitched two shutout innings, giving up a hit and a walk. Jhon Silva struck out one in a scoreless inning, walking one.

    Opposition stars: Fernery Ozuna was 2-for-4 with a double and scored once. Henry Castillo was 2-for-5 with a double, scoring once and driving in one.

    Key inning: The fifth. Leading 3-0, the Twins scored twice to put the game out of reach. A pair of one-out singles led to runners on second and third with two out. A wild pitch scored one and a single by Francis Mateo scored another.
