2013 Game 139: Toronto Blue Jays at Minnesota Twins

R.A. Dickey
v
Mike Pelfrey

Battle of the former Mets tonight.

The Twins have four wins to win to match last year's total. With 24 games remaining, at their current pace they are projected to finish with 71 wins. The remaining schedule will make getting to 70 wins difficult. Three games against the Jays, a makeup game against the Angels, and three more against the White Sox. The other 17 games are against the A's (7), Rays (3), Tigers (3), and Indians (4).

    1. That's what I'm talking about.

Much ado about knuckleballery on the TIBN. Dazzle hasn't yet told us how they do it in Nippon.

  1. the old laptop finally died; thankfully I have an external backup from early August, so getting Quicken up and running on my PC isn't too bad, so I have something to occupy me during the game

  2. Some car outside just had "Kashmir" blaring. I suppose if you're going to be an obnoxious douche, might as well play decent music while you're at it.

  3. when I was in my younger years, I had an irrational love for Glenallen Hill. Maybe because I liked the name Glenallen, maybe I loved his batting stance, I dunno. Maybe because he hit a ball onto the rooftops in Chicago

  4. I hope Swizzlesticks finishes the game. he'll he 3 innings closer to 100 relief innings (86.1 starting today)

    1. I haven't paid super-close attention to the Twins lately, but so far I'm not completely averse to Colabello being the starting 1B next year.

      1. yeah, he looks like a decent option
I think it all comes down to when Joe Mauer is going to play. If he and the team want to avoid a reoccurring concussion issue, a move to first is warranted. Maybe then Colabello is a full time DH.

          Tell that to Justin.

    1. Lackadaisical effort by the second baseman and shortstop on that wild pitch. Reyes didn't even move as Plouffe ran to second. I get that he would have made it there easily, but there wasn't even a token effort to keep him close to second.

  5. Clint converted a fortuitous (rightly called, very good timing for the US) penalty. I'm gonna talk myself into watching the second half, aren't I?

    1. Dempsey has a terrible record at taking PKs. Donovan has a nearly perfect record at taking PKs.

Deuce is lucky that went in.

  6. Perfect spot for Duensing. Three lefties in a row and they're the 7-9 hitters. And now Arencibia pinch hits for Thole. Close enough to perfect.

  7. Just saw Votto's line for today's game scroll by: 2-2, 2-run HR (his 22nd this year), with 2 runs scored.

    1. Except for the one time LeCroy hit a grand slam off them in a game the Twins had no business winning.

      That was fun.

  8. As he took one last look at the scoreboard, Mike Pelfrey muttered, "I'll never listen to Brian Duensing and his nitwit theories again."

We'll just have to settle for 84-78!
