ARAGUA 6, MAGALLANES 5 IN MAGALLANES
Twins: Jermaine Mitchell (Aragua) was 2-for-5 with a double, scoring twice and driving in one. Ray Olmedo (Aragua) was used as a defensive replacement and did not bat. Mark Hamburger (Aragua) pitched two shutout innings, giving up no hits and one walk with one strikeout. Edgar Ibarra (Aragua) pitched a third of an inning, giving up one hit and one walk with one strikeout. Aaron Thompson (Aragua) pitched a third of an inning, giving up one hit.
Aragua: Luis Maza was 4-for-5 with two RBIs. Jim Murphy (Philadelphia) was 2-for-3 with a walk and a double, scoring once. Guillermo Rodriguez was 2-for-4 with a double, scoring once and driving in one.
Magallanes: Erold Andrus was 3-for-4 with a double and scored twice. Gustavo Chacin pitched four innings, allowing one run on four hits and a walk with three strikeouts.
The game: Magallanes scored two in the first and one in each of the next three innings to take a 5-1 lead. Aragua came back, but still trailed 5-4 after eight. Mitchell hit a two-out RBI double to tie the game and came around to score on a single by Maza.

ZULIA 4, LARA 3 IN LARA
Twins: Virgil Vasquez (Zulia) started and pitched four innings, giving up two runs on three hits and a walk with five strikeouts.
Zulia: Jose Flores was 3-for-4 with a walk and a double. Felix Perez (Cincinnati) was 2-for-5 with a double and scored once. Adrian Sanchez (Washington) was 2-for-4 with a walk.
Lara: Tomas Perez was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Red Patterson (Dodgers) pitched three shutout innings, allowing three hits and a walk with two strikeouts.
Random: "Red" used to be a common nickname in baseball. Not any more. According to b-r.com, the last major league player with the nickname "Red" was Jim McGlothlin in 1973.
CARACAS 8, MARGARITA 1 IN CARACAS
Twins: Antoan Richardson (Margarita) was 1-for-3.
Margarita: Adam Duvall (San Francisco) was 2-for-3.
Caracas: Danny Dorn (Detroit) was 3-for-4 with a double and a two-run homer. Jesus Aguilar (Cleveland) was 3-for-4 with a walk and a home run, scoring three times. Yoanner Negrin (Cubs) struck out seven in five shutout innings, allowing two hits and two walks.
The game: Caracas scored one in the first, four in the third, and two in the fourth.
ANZOATEGUI 12, LA GUAIRA 11 IN ANZOATEGUI
La Guaira: Miguel Gonzalez (White Sox) was 1-for-3 with two walks and a three-run homer. Carlos Sanchez (White Sox) was 2-for-3 with a walk, scoring three times and driving in one. Renyel Pinto struck out five in five innings, giving up one run on two hits and no walks.
Anzoategui: Cory Aldridge was 3-for-5 with a three-run homer, scoring twice. Niuman Romero (Baltimore) was 2-for-3 with two walks and home run, scoring three times and driving in two. Jackson Melian was 2-for-4 with a double and scored twice.
The game: La Guaira scored eight in the sixth to take an 11-1 lead. They still led 11-6 going to the bottom of the ninth. Anzoategui started the ninth with a double, a single, and a walk to load the bases. A strikeout, a walk, and another strikeout made it 11-7 with two out and the bases loaded. Luis Nunez hit a two-run double to make it 11-9 and Aldridge followed with a three-run walkoff homer.
