CULIACAN 3, MAZATLAN 1 IN MAZATLAN
Culiacan: Matt Angle (Dodgers) was 2-for-5 with a double and scored once. Francisco Campos pitched 5.1 innings, giving up one run on five hits and no walks with two strikeouts.
Mazatlan: Ivan Terrazas was 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI.
The game: Mazatlan scored in the first to take the lead. Culiacan got all three of its runs in the fifth. RBIs came on a sacrifice fly, a single by Ronnier Mustelier, and a double by Humberto Cota.
LOS MOCHIS 3, GUASAVE 2 IN LOS MOCHIS
Guasave: Zelous Wheeler (Baltimore) hit a home run.
Los Mochis: Brian Burgamy was 2-for-3 with a walk and two doubles, scoring once and driving in one. Tomas Solis pitched six innings, allowing one run on three hits and one walk with three strikeouts.
The game: Guasave got one in the top of the fourth, but Los Mochis came back with three in the bottom of the fourth. Burgamy hit an RBI double and Saul Soto hit a two-run homer. Guasave got a run in the eighth and got the tying run to second in both the eighth and the ninth.
Random: Guasave has a player named Jesus Vega. He does not appear to be related to the former Twins player with the same name.
MEXICALI 7, OBREGON 5 IN MEXICALI
Obregon: Agustin Murillo was 4-for-5 with two doubles. Doug Clark was 1-for-2 with a walk and a home run, scoring three times and driving in three. David Reyes struck out five in 5.2 innings, giving up two runs (one earned) on three hits and a walk.
Mexicali: Kevin Kouzmanoff (Miami) was 2-for-4 with a double, scoring twice and driving in one.
The game: Obregon scored two in the sixth to take a 4-0 lead. Mexicali got back in it with two in the bottom of the sixth. Each team scored once in the seventh. In the eighth, a Mexicali rally led to four tallies. They had only two hits in the inning, both singles, but were aided by two walks and two errors.
