GUASAVE 7, MEXICALI 3 IN GUASAVE
Mexicali: Mike Jacobs (Arizona) was 2-for-3 with a walk, a double, and a home run (his second), scoring twice. Ricky Alvarez was 2-for-4 and scored once.
Guasave: Zelous Wheeler (Baltimore) was 3-for-3 with a walk and scored three times. Jose Rodriguez was 2-for-4 with a double, scoring once and driving in one.
The game: An error led to two Mexicali runs in the second, giving Mexicali a 2-1 lead. In the fourth, however, a two-run double by Gabriel Gutierrez put Guasave in the lead 4-2. Guasave added two in the fifth and was never threatened.
HERMOSILLO 1, CULIACAN 0 IN CULIACAN
Hermosillo: Jerry Owens was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Yunesky Sanchez was 2-for-4 and scored once. Oscar Rivera pitched six shutout innings, giving up two hits and one walk with five strikeouts.
Culiacan: Alejandro Armenta pitched 6.1 innings, allowing one run on six hits and a walk with three strikeouts.
The game: The lone run came in the seventh. Sanchez led off with a single, went to second on a bunt, advanced to third on a ground out, and scored on an Owens single.
LOS MOCHIS 8, OBREGON 3 IN OBREGON
Los Mochis: Brian Burgamy was 3-for-5 with a walk and a two-run homer (his fourth), scoring three times. Jake Fox (Angels) was 2-for-3 with two walks, scoring twice and driving in one. Ramon Orantes was 2-for-5 with a double and four RBIs.
Obregon: Christian Villaneuva was 2-for-4 with a double and a home run (his second), scoring twice. Daniel Castro was 2-for-4.
The game: Obregon scored single runs in the second and third to go ahead 2-0. Los Mochis got on the board with one in the fourth. In the fifth, a two-run double by Orantes capped a three-run inning and put Los Mochis in the lead 4-2. Burgamy hit a two-run homer in the sixth to make it 6-2, and Los Mochis was not threatened.
NAVOJOA 3, MAZATLAN 1 IN NAVOJOA
Mazatlan: Bryan Petersen (Miami) was 2-for-4 with a home run. Mauricio Lara pitched five innings, giving up two runs on seven hits and three walks with two strikeouts.
Navojoa: Kraig Binick was 2-for-4 with a walk and a double, scoring once. Abel Martinez was 2-for-4 with a walk. Hector Velazquez pitched 6.2 innings, allowing one run on three hits and two walks with four strikeouts.
The game: Navojoa scored single runs in the third and fifth to take a 2-0 lead. Mazatlan got its lone run in the top of the seventh to make it 2-1. Navojoa got the run back in the bottom of the seventh on a walk, a single, a walk, and a hit batsman.
