Culiacan: Ricardo Serrano was 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs. Ali Solis (Pittsburgh) was 2-for-3 with a walk and a double, scoring once. Alejandro Armenta pitched 5.1 innings, giving up an unearned run on six hits and two walks with two strikeouts.
Los Mochis: Brian Burgamy was 2-for-4 and scored once. Leonardo Gonzalez pitched two shutout innings, allowing one hit and no walks with one strikeout. Yancarlo Angulo was 1-for-4 with a three-run homer, his third.
The game: Serrano hit a two-run homer in the third to put Culiacan up 3-0. Each team scored once in the fourth. Alex Liddi hit what appeared to be a meaningless homer in the seventh to make it 5-1, but that run turned out to be the difference as Angulo hit a three-run homer in the eighth to make it 5-4. Los Mochis got the tying run to second base with one out in the ninth.
MAZATLAN 2, NAVOJOA 0 IN MAZATLAN
Navojoa: Salvador Robles struck out five in 5.2 innings, giving up two runs on four hits and one walk.
Mazatlan: Henry Mateo was 2-for-4 with a double, scoring once and driving in one. Ryan Hinson pitched seven innings, allowing two hits and one walk with two strikeouts.
The game: Mazatlan got both runs in the sixth on back-to-back doubles by Mario Santana and Mateo and a single by Bryan Petersen (Miami). The closest Navojoa came to scoring was the eighth, when Delwyn Young led off with a double and advanced to third with one out.
HERMOSILLO 5, MEXICALI 3 IN MEXICALI
Hermosillo: Yunesky Sanchez was 2-for-4 with a double and a run. Jerry Owens was 2-for-4 with a walk and an RBI. Barry Enright pitched 5.2 innings, giving up two runs on four hits and two walks with two strikeouts.
Mexicali: Ramon Rios was 2-for-5 with a run. Kevin Kouzmanoff (Miami) was 1-for-2 with two walks and a double, driving in two.
The game: Hermosillo got one on a bases-loaded walk in the fifth and added three in the sixth on two errors and a two-run single by Jonathan Aceves. Mexicali got on the board with a two-run Kouzmanoff double in the sixth and cut the lead to 4-3 in the seventh. Hermosillo added one on another bases-loaded walk in the eighth. Mexicali got the tying run on base in both the eighth and the ninth but did not get a hit in either inning.
GUASAVE 10, OBREGON 2 IN OBREGON
Guasave: Zelous Wheeler (Baltimore) was 3-for-5 with a double and a home run, his fifth, scoring twice. Eduardo Arredondo was 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs. Orlando Lara pitched six innings, giving up two runs on three hits and no walks with four strikeouts.
Obregon: Dan Robertson (San Diego) was 1-for-4 with a home run, his second. Donald Lutz was 1-for-4 with a home run.
The game: Guasave got three homers in the first inning to take a 4-0 lead. They added two more in the fifth to make it 6-0. Obregon got single runs in the sixth and seventh, but Guasave scored four more in the eighth to put it out of reach.
