MAGALLANES 5, ARAGUA 4 IN MAGALLANES
Twins: Oswaldo Arcia (Aragua) was 2-for-3 with a double, scoring once and driving in one. Edgar Ibarra (Aragua) struck out five in three shutout innings, giving up two hits and one walk. Dakota Watts (Aragua) pitched two-thirds of an inning, giving up no runs on no hits and one walk. Aaron Thompson (Aragua) pitched one-third of an inning, giving up two runs on two hits with one strikeout.
Aragua: Guillermo Quiroz was 2-for-5 with a double and an RBI. Luis Maza was 2-for-4 with a walk and a run. Jan Granado struck out four in four innings, giving up one run on two hits and two walks.
Magallanes: Rougned Odor was 3-for-4 with a run. Jesus Flores was 2-for-4 with a run. Carlos Zambrano pitched 5.2 innings, allowing two unearned runs on eight hits and three walks with one strikeout.
The game: Magallanes scored two in the third and two in the eighth to take a 4-1 lead into the bottom of the ninth. Magallanes came back. Frank Diaz homered to start the inning and Lew Ford hit an RBI single with one out to make it 4-3. With two down, Adonis Garcia (Yankees) doubled and Ford scored from first with the winning run.
ANZOATEGUI 7, ZULIA 3 IN ANZOATEGUI
Twins: Eduardo Escobar (Anzoategui) was 2-for-3 with two doubles and a run.
Zulia: Jose Pirela (Yankees) was 2-for-3 with a walk and a run.
Anzoategui: Oscar Salazar was 2-for-3 with a double and a triple, scoring once and driving in two. Paolo Espino struck out eight in 5.1 innings, allowing two runs on one hit and three walks.
The game: Two errors and a wild pitch helped Anzoategui take a 2-0 lead in the first. Jose Flores hit a two-run homer to tie it in the fourth. An error and a Salazar double made it 4-3 Anzoategui in the bottom of the fourth. Anzoategui went on to score two in the fifth and two in the sixth to take control.
LA GUAIRA 13, MARGARITA 3 IN LA GUAIRA
Twins: Antoan Richardson (Margarita) was 1-for-4.
Margarita: Max Ramirez was 2-for-4 with two doubles.
La Guaira: C. J. Retherford was 3-for-4 with a double and a home run (his fourth), scoring twice and driving in four. Cesar Suarez was 2-for-4 with a grand slam, scoring twice and driving in five. Tyson Brummett struck out five in five shutout innings, allowing three hits and no walks.
The game: It got late early, as La Guaira scored six in the first and two in the third to go ahead 8-0. The Suarez grand slam came in the first inning.
