After a pair of game at Staples Center, the Wolves return back home to play the Cleveland Cavaliers. It was only 10 games ago when these two teams played and in that game the Wolves were listless for 3 quarters before making a furious comeback in the 4th to make it close.
The Wolves are 3-1 at home, Cleveland has yet to win on the road. I expect those trends to continue tonight.
oh boy, perhaps my prediction is on shaky ground
Whenever somebody says "flu-like symptoms," I assume they mean "hungover."
I always picture someone has the bad Clams Casino. Or had lunch at Taco Bell.
And now I'm imaging a cloud rap backbeat to someone vomiting. Wonderful.
Swag.
I was hoping that you specifically would read that.
Girls on my dick and I'm puking in the baaaaaaaaathrooooooooooooooooooooooom.
Oh yeah, Taco Bell is always a good option.
8th year senior from Purdue Robbie Hummel gets a start!
Hummel!
This looks better than the last time they played the Cavs, though Love isn't doing well against Thompson.
Another good start to the game. Can't wait for the second string.
So Kevin Love is throwing half court passes on the inbound after a basket. SO freakin cool
looks like we are playing the 'Corey Brewer left corner three' drinking game tonight boys!
That's my favorite drinking game!
oh lawd Rubio!
Nice pass, Ricky.
This is the best first quarter team I've ever seen.
from a tweet earlier today
.
Stat just popped up that says the Cavs have ten points off the bench. The Wolves?
Bench scoring is obviously overrated.
I know this gets said quite a bit, but Jim Peterson is a terrific announcer. It's so nice to listen to a level-headed guy who knows what he's talking about.
I wonder if ESPN or TNT has reached out to him?
I hope not.
yeah. I mean, I bet he is pretty happy doing games for the local team and with his coaching position with the Lynx it probably helps the be around.
Free points!
Brewer is hardcore tonight.
FSN has got to learn not to cut away from the action after the Wolves make a shot. About the 5th time this year they have missed a steal/bucket because of the cutaway to the player who just made a basket.
heady times Wolves fan.
This is like the basketball equivalent of #firstworldproblems.
So, this is a pretty good time for me to be able to see my first full game of the season.
Hey Spooky, I was talking today at work and realized that if I could get in a movie with Kevin Bacon, I'd basically have the smallest Erdős–Bacon number in the world (tied with Carl Sagan). You need to help me make this happen.
I will be on the phone for as long as it takes.
Even lower than Winnie Cooper?!
Why not just write a paper based on an idea Kevin Bacon suggested, then list him as a co-author?
The Wolves have so many points in the paint that their 63% field goal rate doesn't seem unsustainable.
DWill block!
70 point first half. yawn.
Kevin Love 19 points... ho hum.
That first half was okay...I guess.
Oh man, I forgot Mike Brown was coaching the Cavs again. Good times.
Maybe we can push this lead to 40 and give our starters the 4th quarter off.
Only if they can afford to go 0-for the 4th.
I figure we can get outscored 30-0 and still have a comfortable 10 point victory.
That would certainly be entertaining!
Good lord, Kevin Love is a beast.
KLIVGABB
that running dunk by Love just felt old school.
kind of like the pace of play the Wolves has been playing this year. Very 80's run and gun feel.
Pek is dominating in the paint the last two games. awesome
and that pass by Rubio. wowzer
The Cavs have started to play a safety back to cover our receivers.
DRINK
Drink!
Hummlebrag
The dagger.
Wolves must've read GH's suggestion of leading by 40 points.
could we see extended minutes for DWill, Gorgui, and Bazzy tonight?
DRINK AGAIN!
!!!
Hell of a pass. THis has been a fun game to watch.
Brewer is trying so hard to keep up with Love, but he just can't quite get there.
If Martin was going to hit the gin and tonics, the night before this game seems like a good time for it.
I want to see Rubio get 20 assists.
The Wolves blew it by being ahead by too much.
Time to cheer for the Cavs bench to start lighting it up!
Please don't.
All I can say is, Oh-Me-Oh-My-Oh!
I was only kidding about that 40 point lead, but we're almost there.
I have my doubts that Hummel will stay healthy, but he's looking surprisingly like an acceptably-average NBA player.
It's still the third quarter???
Franchise record is 17 assists, done five times. Rubio last I heard is at 16.
I would imagine that that's where he'll stay.
Yup, looks like the victory cigars are in.
And there are a lot of them 🙁
Get well soon, Bud.
This does have the feel of in 2009 when Favre would have the Vikes ahead by a wide margin, and they'd bring in Tarvaris for the last couple of drives.
...and I say that knowing that you bring in your second line in these situation, obviously. It's more the jarring transition from "OMG world-crushing greatness" to "yeah, these guys also play basketball for the team".
oh man, that made me laugh hard.
the Wolves have topped 130 only 4 times in 25 years. And one was that 2OT game against OKC last year.
Not gonna get there shooting so many long twos.
Gorgui!
So, Timberwolves.
I trust this Wolves team could hold a 30 goal lead for 4 minutes against any soccer team in the world. Pek! for goalie!
Bennett just blew a wide open dunk. Wow.
As luck would have it, I've mostly been able to watch full games when the Wolves are on the back half of a back-to-back.
So... this is what they look like at full strength...
probably would have had 150 with Kevin Martin in the game.
In the third.
I think my excitement about this club is proving to be justified.
I spent $140 on League Pass. I do not regret it so far.
the style of play is a joy to watch. free flowing, fast paced. and smothering defense. its so awesome to watch. AND the Wolves are getting victories
I wanted to watch the whole game, but Elder Daughter came over for dinner and had a brake light out so I had to run to O'Reilly and get a bulb and get home and install it so I missed the first quarter. Heard some of it on the radio, Rubio is like the Feedmaster of the Universe, and picked it up on TV a few minutes into the second quarter. By then the game was more or less over except for all that time on the clock to run out. Color me impressed.
I sure hope S-N-P is still watching this season, even it is from afar.
He is.
Goes by Nate in St. Paul, now.
I must have missed this - what happened?
The Wolves are still on track for 79-3!
Wolves are the early game on friday's ESPN doubleheader. w00t. I get to see them finally.
