The game: Hernandez hit a two-run homer to give Carolina a 2-0 lead before anyone was retired in the first inning. It remained 2-0 until the sixth, when Feliciano and Hernandez each had an RBI single to make it 4-0. Mayaguez got back into it in the bottom of the sixth when Rivera hit a one-out three-run homer. That was as close as they would come, however, as Hernandez and Ruben Gotay each had an RBI single to build the lead to 6-3. Mayaguez did not have a hit after the Rivera homer in the sixth.
