NAVOJOA 6, MEXICALI 4 IN NAVOJOA
Mexicali: Russell Branyan was 1-for-3 with a walk and a home run, his third. Chris Roberson was 2-for-4 with a double and a run. Amauri Sanit pitched six innings, giving up three runs on five hits and one walk with three strikeouts.
Navojoa: Rolando Acosta was 3-for-4 with two doubles, scoring once and driving in one. Fernando Flores was 1-for-3 with a walk and a two-run homer, his third. Jose Lugo struck out three in two shutout innings, allowing one hit and no walks.
The game: Mexicali scored three runs in the second without a hit, getting two errors, a walk, and two wild pitches, one of them a strikeout/wild pitch. Navojoa got on the board in the fourth on RBI doubles by John Lindsey and Acosta. Branyan homered to lead off the fifth and give Mexicali a 4-2 lead, but Navojoa tied it in the seventh on a two-run homer by Jose Guadalupe Chavez. Navojoa got another two-run homer in the eighth, this one by Flores, to take its first lead of the game at 6-4. Mexicali could manage only a two-out single in the ninth.
LOS MOCHIS 6, HERMOSILLO 3 IN LOS MOCHIS
Hermosillo: Heber Gomez was 2-for-3 with a home run. Zelous Wheeler (Yankees) was 1-for-3 with two walks and a double, driving in one. Nathan Reed (Boston) pitched 6.1 innings, giving up three runs on six hits and one walk with two strikeouts.
Los Mochis: Jason Bourgeois (Cincinnati) was 2-for-4 with a two-run homer. Jesus Arredondo (Dodgers) was 1-for-3 with a double, scoring once and driving in three. Tomas Solis pitched six innings, allowing one run on six hits and four walks with two strikeouts.
The game: Yancarlo Angulo singled in Jake Fox with the first run of the game in the second inning for Los Mochis. Daryle Ward homered in the fourth to tie it at one. It was tied 1-1 until the seventh, when two singles and a walk loaded the bases with one out for Los Mochis. Arredondo hit a three-run doubled followed by Bourgeois' two-run homer to give Los Mochis a 6-1 lead. Hermosillo got single runs in the eighth and ninth but did not bring the tying run up to bat.
