Twins: Eddie Rosario (Puerto Rico) was 1-for-4 with two RBIs. Kennys Vargas (Puerto Rico) was 0-for-2 with a walk. Daniel Ortiz (Puerto Rico) was 0-for-1. Deolis Guerra (Venezuela) pitched a perfect inning with one strikeout.
Puerto Rico: Giancarlo Alvarado pitched six shutout innings, giving up two hits and two walks with two strikeouts. Steve Smith pitched two shutout innings, giving up one hit and no walks.
Venezuela: Ezequiel Carrera was 2-for-3. Daryl Thompson pitched five shutout innings, allowing one hit and two walks with three strikeouts.
The game: There were no threats to score until the fifth, and no actual scoring until the eighth. Vargas led off the inning with a walk, followed by a bunt and another walk to put men on first and second with one out. The next man struck out, but then an error loaded the bases. Rosario then singled to left to drive home the only two runs of the game. Venezuela did not get a man on base after that.
