  1. I'll put out the bat signal for two (yeah, I know it's a big ask...) tickets for the midway show. Dr. Chop's yellow turned to green (and she wants to go (double bonus)).

    1. PROHIBITED ITEMS (Including but not limited to)
      • Lawn Chairs ...

in a related note, I'm headed out to Jazz Fest later today where the folding chair has become a burden and crutch for so many festival attendees. I get irrationally enraged when I see folks carrying the folding camp chair to the front of the stage and plop them down. I'm happy to see that midway has not folded to the pressure of the powerful camp chair lobby,

      1. etix error message.... soul doubt.

      1. I did briefly consider emailing DPWY and meat and saying "I saw it, but I'm gonna play like I didn't. Let's see how long Spooky keeps doing it." Then later when/if I finally fessed up, I'd have two witnesses.

  2. I'm going to be in the car for Houston for a footy match for the entirety of the 9AM EPL games. I'm going to be doubly anxious on the journey - one dose for pre-match jitters (extra strength since it's my first ever match) and one for the Fulham result.

  3. NBA Playoffs:

Two more game sevens and Damian Lilliard with a series winning three for the ages.

  4. Just finished my first lawn-mowing of the season. It's a perfect day for it – breezy and right around 60° F. Siphoned the last of the gas out of the snow blower into the lawn mower's tank to get the job done, too. I'll run the blower dry here shortly, then go out and help Mrs. Hayes finish filling the two new raised beds she built this morning (now up to four beds total - three 4'x8' & one 2' x 8' raised, plus one 10'x15' in-ground that we'll convert to raised next spring). Our seedlings are huge and we'll be lucky if they're not too root-bound.

    1. Siphoning beer is one thing; siphoning gas is close-work. When I was a kid, I was siphoning gas from one Mini-Enduro to another, and took some in the mouth. Natch.

      1. Yep, siphoning gas is not for those with weak stomachs. When I do it, it usually ends up with a lot of spitting and swearing- that taste doesn't go away for hours.

        1. When I went to get some clear tubing and a gas can at the local Farm & Fleet the guy who cut the tubing was just shaking his head.

I would think that anything with 2-stroke oil added into would taste even worse than regular gas. I'll bet NBB's mini-enduro was a 2-stroke.

    2. Fourth (?) mowing of the season, and I had to stop 3-4 times for a breather. The Oak allergies may not be bad now, but I was still out of breath. Mrs. Runner got the front planters and the hanging plants done. I talked her into planting a bell pepper (orange) instead of a tomato plant, so #winning!

      1. We haven't had great luck with peppers here yet, but this spring switched to two heirloom varieties – one sweet developed in Maine, one Hungarian hot developed here – that should do better in our zone. I would think peppers would do great down where you're at, Rhu_Ru.

          1. I never liked fresh tomatoes until we started growing heirlooms. I couldn't believe the difference in flavor. I'm still not a huge fan - I won't eat a slice just for the heck of it - but I'll pop a few cherry tomatoes as I'm picking.

              1. That sounds like something I need to check out. Heck, I wonder if I'd like the taste of fresh durian even better than the stuff we can get up here.

            1. My grandpa used to grow tomatoes in his garden and would go out and pick and eat them like they were apples. I love them.

              1. I do that, too. I love tomatoes, but I end up getting canker sores if I eat too many of them. Stupid acidic fruits.
