If only one (or both) of the teams were a 2 seed, and it were on ESPN2, and the pitcher was at 22 pitches.
On June 1, who would have predicted Luke Donaldson would have a 4.4 WAR? He has also blasted past Brian Dozier in the Runs Scored department(48-44), although Dozier still on pace for 100+
And who would have predicted he'd change his name from Josh to that of his favorite Jedi?
hahaha
wow
E-1 in the scorebook.
thanks for keeping things half bakef
Mike Yeo got a 3 year contract extension from the Wild (not that coaching contracts in the NHL are worth anything).
Yeo still remains the second longest tenured coach/manager for the Minnesota pro squads.
if you think NHL coaching contracts are "not worth anything," you might want to reconsider. I'm happy to wager on that point.
I think he means "not worth anything" in the sense that the contract can be broken or bought out at any time, not that the monetary value is worthless (I'm sure it's a few million, anyhow).
But that is the point. A "non-guaranteed" contract is still a contract. If a coach is not getting up-front (or back-end) compensation for being fire-able, he is an idiot and his agent is incompetent.
NFL player contracts typically are non-guaranteed. But players get signing bonuses spread over multiple years. Those things are "guaranteed". So while the nominal contract amount reported in the press is usually b.s., it still (usually) signals something about the actual value to the player.
From what I can find on NHL coaching contracts, if a coach signs a 3-year extension for $5 million, he gets the $5 million if he keeps his job for the full three years or not. There is definitely guaranteed value there.
But saying that a contract is for three years means nothing- that's the part that is worthless.
I wonder if the team can buy out the contract like they can for players. The lower value and shorter time might make it not as worthwhile.
I say it in jest since NHL coaches are fired so often. The Wild have been lucky (for lack of a better word) to only have 3 in their entire history.
A friend of mine (who actually sang with me yesterday at the nursing home) has a son expected to go fairly high in the draft. She said he was currently doing some tryouts in Detroit.
Programming note: Normally, on the first of the month, we'd have Players of the Month for the previous month. That will not happen today because Sunday. It probably won't happen tomorrow, either, as we do Players of the Week on Mondays. We'll shoot for Tuesday for our May Players of the Month.
RHP J.O. Berrios threw a 1-hit shutout with 13 Ks today for @MiracleBaseball. Gave up 1-out double in the 5th, HBP in 6th. No walks.— Mike Berardino (@MikeBerardino) June 1, 2014
DH today, so 7-inning shutout. Still, wow!
Thirteen strikeouts is even more impressive in just seven innings.
that dude made and saved the Stones a lot of money over the years.
Revolution Brewing in Chicago should rethink their marketing some because I'm at O'Hare and didn't order this initially because I thought it was Heineken and I wasn't the only person to think that.
Huh. Looks more like Hulk Ale than Heineken.
I fully admit that I was pretty stupid for my brain going straight to Heineken. The actual beer ended up being fantastic, by the way.

Haven't seen the documentary, but Rodriguez's Cold Fact is one of my favorite records.
This box score has a lot of twos
TCU eventually scored that inning and won 3-2
