I just noticed that if the Twins would sign AJ, he'd be moving to a team with a better record than his previous two clubs (BoSox, Texas).
At the end of June, the Twins were 13th in the AL. Now after going 4-5 on the month, they've moved into 11th. So, I guess that isn't as big a move as I thought. But having a better record than two of the last three pennant winners feels bigger.
AJ's a big whiner, but Ortiz is a leader. More at eleventy11!!!11
[never mind; it's the same article]
Hey, I'll be out of town tonight and tomorrow (into NU unexpectedly, no bad news or anything though). Anyone want to take the Friday Music Day?
I can.
CoC's turn!
Thanks
Just post that creepy Olsen Twins pizza you posted a while back. I watched it once, and it hasn't left my mind yet.
I watched it once as well and was so befuddled I didn't even know what to say afterward.
"I WAAAANT PIIIIZZZAAAAAAAAA"
Yes, I suppose that would have been the obvious choice.
This could wait for movie day, but... meh. I recently found out that Philosofette had never seen Jaws. So we watched it last night. It had been a long time since I'd really sat down and seen that one.
What. A. Well. Made. Film.
I was constantly impressed by the little flourishes. Short little shots added in, expert blocking (is it called that in film too?), beaches filled with real people, the dread humor of the characters - they weren't trying to make the audience laugh, they were trying to make each other laugh, just like real people would. That's brilliant. Wow.
Out of the will. At least the family seems to have a sense of humor.
There are a lot of good films that don't make any sense.
Right. I reject that false choice.
I took three film classes in college; Jaws was shown in all of them.
I'm back. I hope you didn't miss my one-day absence. I don't know if it was the flu or food poisoning (both I and Junior had it), but that was not a fun 24 hours. If it was food poisoning, I'd say to avoid IHOP.
Neither flu nor food poisoning is any fun at all. Glad you're feeling better.
Thought it was time to include what's-his-name...

it was an awesome article. I don't hail from MN but in my summers in LaMoure County getting a game together was very easy.
Stayed up for the west coast ballgame, and couldn't put together a Co'C? Huh.
Yeah, sorry. I was already spreading myself thin by working on my game while watching the Twins (damn, is it ever tough for an obsessive to release a game. I keep worrying I've missed something).
no need to apologize. It was mock indignation.
A silly list, but a good reminder of how much great beer is being made in California.
Is there a per capita list?
I think Vermont probably wins that list, with Alaska close behind. At least when weighted by quality.
Anthony Rizzo wins the fan vote over Morneau. That's too bad. I was hoping the Upper Midwest, Colorado and Canadian voting would overcome the Chicago voting, but I guess not. Chris Sale won the AL vote.
Ouch! Apparently A.J. wasn't a big hit in Boston.

Not everyone agrees.
Oy.

This piece is pretty awesome. Let me know if you'd like me to 'splain it.
Oh, would you please?
Well, you see, li'l lady, ....
The article was pretty good. The comments, though... why do I ever read the comments?
dw linked to this fine Jim Caple piece elsewhere. My only beef with it is the lack of Neshek.

Chicagoan won the elections? I call shenanigans.
Yadi injured -- Justin can catch!!
He'll be there, as a participant in the Home Run Derby.
Ladies and gentlemen, your 2014 home run derby champion, Jerry Morneau!
I'm just assuming Jeter will win.
FSN is showing the 1965 All Star Game right now.awesome
