Baseball returns from its too long break. The Rays, possibly soon to no longer have David Price, send their entire team to the All-Star Game. They're a little late, so the Twins will have to suffice for the opponent.

Im guessing Target Field will have less on an atmosphere tonight than it did for its last game played.
I'd like to see the team go on a nice little run during this home stand. I think they have it in them to be above .500 by August. They just have to get the pitching, defense and offense all working at the same time.
Oh, I didnt notice that Fuld is in LF and Santana (fresh off the DL) is in CF. speed!!!!
That's something at least
Wow - it IS nice having a real right fielder
Not sure Arcia counts.
Oops wrong hand
*blames cellphone*
gaaah.
There is no D in Arcia, and only a little d in Oswaldo.
Dozier with another 4-2 PO from from the outfield.
That was sweet. As an old 2B, I've have loved watching him play defense this year.
Arm looks good enough to be a shortstop when he's making that throw.
PLLOOOUUUFFFEE
PLOUFFED!!
PLOUFFE!
Molitor's coaching at first?
(whoa, where is everyone?)
Did Gardy ever say why he went with Gibson last night when he could've used his ace, Hughes, on regular rest? I don't know that it matters a whole lot--they'll each pitch ever fifth day anyway--but I assume there's a reason Gardy went the way he did, and I'm curious as to what it is.
It looks like they stuck with the regular rotation for yesterday, but Hughes is starting tonight. My guess is they wanted to give Hughes an extra day.
I think they also lined him up with Price too.
The extra day I can see if they think he could use one. As for lining him up against Price, I'm not sure I see the advantage of that. Ace against ace, I guess, but their ace is still significantly better than our ace. But again, I don't know that it matters a whole lot.
Ace vs. Ace has been the m.o. of managers since the dawn of time.
I remember there were a few times in 1987 when Tom Kelly matched up Steve Carlton against another team's ace, figuring that the Twins weren't likely to win anyway, but that Carlton would at least get him five or six innings and not make him blow out the bullpen. T. K. never came out and said that was what he was doing, obviously, but that's what it seemed like.
