So, you guys aren't huge into squeaky voiced dudes singing about stepping on trumpets? That's cool.
We're going to cheat a little today. This is definitely a live video, but it's essentially a DJ set. Plus, the video has a very prepared vibe, but that fits with the song, so it works. This was one of my favorites from last year. I like the cold, blue lighting of this video, and the haze that wafts over the whole thing.
Shout out to Brooks' dark techno playlist on Spotify, which I've been going through over the past couple days, and will continue to plumb the depths of in the near future.
I think the reason I like The Haxan Cloak is the same reason I like Swans and Sunn O))), they're unrelenting. Something about pushing things so far without letting up appeals to me.
I think that's pretty much the same thing for me. Even during the comparably quieter sections, there's no let up. I'm interested to see what he's got for a followup.
You mention Swans, and I was going to put Bring the Sun as one of my videos, since it's got one of the most unrelenting buildups I've ever heard anywhere (there were no fewer than fifteen times where I thought it would relent, release, or straight up break, only for it to get even more intense). There's not really a good live version, though. Plus, it's paired with Toussaint L'ouverture (as it is on the album), so the song is 35 minutes long.
