Our debt went under another thousand-dollar milestone yesterday. I can't wait until it's gone.

Some guy did mashups of Star Wars and MLB logos. Looks like he's also got Simpsons/NHL and some soccer stuff.
Well, he got the White Sox and Yanks spot on.
Some of those were pretty weak, like slapping two Jawas on the Twins logo or an Ewok on the Cubs and calling it something new. Then there's stuff like the Pittsburgh C3POs that are pretty good.
Thought the Itchy/Scratchy-Florida Panthers logo was about right.
Oooh, the Santa's Little Helper/Coyotes one is dead on.
Santa's Little Helper?
The Twins have hit 80 home runs this year. 54 (67.5%) have been solo, 26 (32.5%) with men on, 9 with at least two runners on.
Last year 151-93 (61.5%)-58 (38.4%) -15
Do you happen to know what an average ratio would be?
For the AL in 2014, there have been 1492 home runs. 862 (57.8%) were solo, 630 (42.2%) with men on, 202 (13.5%) with at least two runners.
Congrats on the milestone, I'm quite jealous. The best I can say right now is that I only have one car payment left.
Ditto on the congratulations. I'm down to just a student loan payment. I don't regret the loan, because I couldn't have become a pastor otherwise, but I'll be really glad when it's gone.
Only one credit card remains to be paid off as of last month, so it's easier to track because the number is THE number now. I think the newly-married Milk family would be surprised to learn they were able to sustain such a long period of buckling down. Of course, the 1998 spooky would just be thrilled to learn that there was such a thing as a 2014 spooky.
you've just reminded me that I need to pay my credit card bill. We've been pretty good about living within our means, but three years of unemployment in Texas took a chunk out of our savings / credit. we're almost back to debt free as well, but as I write this I'm sure that our car will need to be replaced as soon as I get home.
I used to be good at it, but then i married a spender and had two kids, so my current situation is a bit stressful.
I liked my life more when work didnt have my phone number. ><
I've had four calls this morning as well. I always check in on work on Saturday AMs, and on those rare occasions when some actually is seeing if I'm online and can help, it's a nice feather in the cap. It was the director of Engineering this time
particularly with Farris' less-than-stellar track record at the plate.
It's completely stupid. The Twins rushed him to the majors with no backup plan and he predictably struggled. They did the same thing again this year. He's doing well in AA, they should put him on the AAA club. I'd really prefer we not rely on Santana as the CF going into 2015.
I'm not sure what Santana's defense looks like, but even if he was a serviceable CF, we're still stuck with no (real) backup.
I know it's technically a FC because you can't assume the double play, but it seems to me that "Puig Scores from Second on attempted GBDP" isn't as sensational. Either way, that's some fancy-dancy slidin'
how frustrated/helpless must the catcher have felt during all of that. And kudos to the ump for positioning himself and staying on that play
Hey Rows -- sorry, my coworker in Omerha already bought tickets for Mon. night (nice ones). I'm thinking of heading to Old Chicago tomorrow evening, though, if you wanted to work on your world beer tour...
Cool discovery at B-Ref: If you hover over any ERA or FIP of a player or team, the difference between ERA and FIP for that player or team will be displayed in a little popup window. FWIW, the Twins have the second biggest positive difference between ERA and FIP. Their FIP is actually slightly above league average thanks to extremely low walk and HR totals.
Does positive difference mean that ERA is higher than FIP? With the defensive outfield the Twins have put on the field this year, I would expect that.
Yes. Positive as in the guy has been better than his ERA.
Also applies the the saves field. I am unsure how I feel about the positive/negative label applied to ERA and FIP. The extra information for the saves field is useful. Finally we get more information upfront beyond just saves.
If you're looking for a good laugh, I would recommend Sharktopus. This thing was made in 2010, but I've seen better graphics done with claymation in a live-action film. I saw about five minutes of the initial killing spree and was nearly ROFL. It's a good flick to watch with buddies just to make fun of it.
Excellent. But perhaps not as topically up-to-date as the Nats.
1. Sat in traffic on one of our busy streets here due to a 2-car wreck, and realized that I've been telecommuting now for twice as long as I commuted when living in Los Angeles. Thank you, karma.
2. Why did I put down the summer lawn treatment? The lawn has never looked this good, and it's August, for crying out loud. Should have mowed a day or two earlier.
3. I'm a grand uncle for the first time. Awesome responsibility.
File under: May just one day pay off in a pub quiz
More impressive than the mere feat is how he went about it:
What makes Youngblood's accomplishment even more incredible is that his first hit was off Hall of Fame pitcher Ferguson Jenkins. As if that wasn't enough, Youngblood's second hit of the day was off another Hall of Famer: Steve Carlton.
According to Atteberry, the Tigers -- for the first time in their 102 years -- scored in every inning in a home game.
Technically not true. They didn't score in the ninth.
You're going to have to wait another several hundred years if you're looking to score at least eight runs and still bat in the ninth.

It's probably not a good sign for Aaron Hicks that he's in AA while the starting CFers for the Twins and in AAA are infielders who had never played CF before.

Yasiel Puig Scores From Second On Fielder's Choice

I really balls Puig.

Appears there is also an upcoming sequel, Sharktopus vs. Pteracuda starring Conan O'Brien.
I love that song "Pteracuda" by that band Hart.
It's intentionally bad, though. That's a whole cottage industry now.
Another example of the Oakland A's doing things right.
Excellent. But perhaps not as topically up-to-date as the Nats.

Joel Youngblood: Still the only Major Leaguer with hits for two teams in two cities on the same day

If you want me to retire, you're going to have to build a statue of me first.
