My game has done very well for a single day of being released. Thanks, everyone.

I feel bad for Mike Kvasnicka. I hope somebody's looking after him.
I read he was conscious the whole time so hopefully he's just banged up rather than also concussed.
Hip bruise or something of that nature. Hopefully the media gets his name right eventually.
I was thinking more along the line of him not blaming himself for concussing the top prospect in baseball and a potential generational player for the franchise.
He caught the ball, so I give him the benefit of the doubt in any case.
surprised Torii hasn't chimed in yet
He caught the ball, sure, but I'm guessing if I were in his shoes that would be a small comfort. Accidents happen; I just hope the kid keeps a healthy perspective.
Maybe some of Buxton's talent transferred upon impact?
I always think of Dennis Byrd when I see stuff like this. Hopefully both players don't have anything lasting with this.
For me it's Mike Cameron & Carlos Beltrán in San Diego.
For me, it's those two kids on my AAA team.
Kubel in the Arizona Fall League.
+1 +2 owie
The first place Royals come to MN this weekend, while the second-place Tigers host the Ms.
I for one am hoping the Twins get swept.
I'm almost with you on that one. I'm not actively rooting for it, but if it happens I suppose I'd be sorta OK with it.
Careful. You root too hard for the Royals and the just might have you throw out the first pitch.
True, but it's not like the Twins needed that to get into the postseason and they lost their first round series, so it didn't help them getting home-field advantage or playing the A's instead of the Yankees.
Well they did get HFA for the first round, hosting the A's. Without that, the Twins would have had only one home game rather than the two they got.
I don't recall ever hearing that story. Thanks for sharing it, I guess.
Does anybody know anything about the curling club in Blaine? My wife saw that the local Park & Rec board is offering a curling class there and we're thinking of giving it a try.
I joined the curling league here, and I have a blast. I know that doesn't answer the part about Blaine specifically, but in general curling is definitely worth a try.
I second the strong recommendation of giving it a try. I've never been to that club, but that's where the men's national team came from. (err, not sure if that's an endorsement or not.) Looking at their website, it looks like a really nice club.
Danke. I'm pretty sure we're in. It will be our first adventure as empty-nesters.
I was there for a work event. I thought the curling was a lot of fun, and the instruction was interesting. You have to be a little bit limber for the bending and the sliding, but definitely a good time. If you're looking for a shared activity, that'd be a good one. They also have a bar and grill that overlooks the ice, so would make for an easy date night.
If Spooky's family picture doesn't make it over here, I will be very disappointed.
And to think I was excited to see what else my sister had in the vault when she announced the finding last week.
Attention Pie-lovers!
I checked out Pale Fire from the library today. I'll probably start on it this weekend, and hopefully have it done by the next First Monday.
Hey, that's me!
Looks like Pale Fire is ready for me to pick up from my library today, so let's do this thing!
I'm gonna have to dig a box out of storage to find this thing...
Want me to UPS it?
You should get yourself listed on the Book Exchangef.
Steampunk set on a different world, where Mattie, an automaton who has won her independence from her maker is the heroine. The world has several factions which are fighting for control (Alchemists against Mechanics is the main conflict) with Mattie caught in the middle. I really enjoyed it when I read it a few years ago.
Manfred named future MLB commissioner. [selig shrug.jpg]
We need an image of Manfred shrugging ASAP.
He's Selig's choice, right? I imagine we'll have plenty of opportunities.
Here's the video of Buxton's injury. It's not as gruesome as some I've seen, but it definitely was scary.

back in the Golden State after almost two weeks of "vacation," including the last several days of tourista-ism in Gotham. If you get a chance to see Matilda, don't be afraid to go. Wonderful show.
We did the Staten Island Ferry, walked Central Park, spent a couple good hours in the Frick, and another good afternoon at the Natural History Museum. Saw bro-in-law's high school, hung out with the Boy, bro-in-law and family, and with a friend from the Alma Mater. Ate some really goodvegan food and some really good not-vegan food and had a representative slice at a corner place in the East Village. Unfortunately, the Boy did not know enough to take me to Lombardi's. We will have words when he comes home in another week.

But...
That's.... a really good rebuttal.

Eep. I did not know about Alfredo Elmead before today.
