Friend's son Brett Graves will be in Phoenix for instructional league; they think it's cool that he gets to wear the big league club's uni (A's) while there. I also got to see his upcoming baseball card for Panini's Prizm set -- much cooler than his minor league card from the Vermont Lake Monsters:
How could anything be cooler than the Vermont Lake Monsters?
Apparently he was a big TMNT fan as a kid, so he enjoyed the look of the cap, too.
Cowabunga, Dude!
Lefthander Mason Melotakis has a possible torn ulnar collateral ligament. The Twins will decide in a couple of weeks if surgery is needed. Melotakis throws in the mid 90's and has a chance to debut sometime next season.
TWINS BASEBALL!!!
sigh.
REHAB IT!11!!!!
Bad news, but I don't know that he has much chance of making his big league debut next season even if he's healthy. I suppose there's always "a chance" but he's only pitched 16 innings above Class A so far.
Meant to mention, Darin Mastroianni Kenny Wilson is the latest Twins to have an autographed card in a recent Topps release (the Heritage Minor Leagues set). Don't remember reading about him in any of the posts, though.
He wasn't a Twin (or a Rock Cat) for long. The Twins claimed him off waivers from Toronto on April 24 (as you imply, it was essentially a trade for Mastroianni, although it technically wasn't). They designated him for assignment less than three weeks later, and Toronto claimed him back. They waived him again in July and he was claimed by Oakland.
With Derek Jeter retiring and Jason Giambi on his last legs, it almost marks the end on an era. Those two started in the post-strike 1995 season. LaTroy Hawkins also started in 1995, but he is still sort of effective and wouldnt be shocked if he gets offered a job somewhere next year. actually has a contract for next year, whoa.
LaTroy Hawkins: Like a Terry Mulholland for the next generation.
but right handed.
Jesse Orrosco
Orosco has no wins against the O's, Rays, Marlins, or Mets.
LaTroy still needs wins against the Astros, Cubs, and Twins to complete the Mulholland. (No Expos but Nat'ls so I'll give it to him.)
Delmon Young is having a solid season in limited duty for the O's. Why are no Twins fans bemoaning the loss of him like what is going on with Liriano and Worley?
Don't follow that link - it's live video of the news conference, and nobody wants to see that. I just wanted to cite the source.
BLTs with heirloom tomatoes: pretty damn good. Even better: the bacon-spinach-avocado-pepperjack-tomato sandwich (with the bread pan-toasted in bacon fat) that I had tonight.
Let's play Jeopardy:

Oh, that's right, he got away again. Thanks
Josh Willingham strongly considering retirement after this season is over.

Yea, it WAS that good.
