CARACAS 4, MARGARITA 3 IN MARGARITA (14 INNINGS)

Twins:  Aaron Hicks was 2-for-5 with a two-run homer and a walk for Margarita.

Caracas:  Daniel Mayora (Dodgers) was 3-for-5 with a home run and two walks.  Danry Vasquez (Houston) was 3-for-6 with a triple and an RBI.  Victor Sanchez (Seattle) pitched five shutout innings, giving up three hits and no walks with two strikeouts.

Margarita:  Alberto Gonzalez was 3-for-6.  Casey Lawrence (Toronto) pitched 5.2 innings, allowing two runs on nine hits and a walk with two strikeouts.

The game:  With Margarita trailing 3-2 in the eighth, Wilfredo Tovar (Mets) doubled, went to third on a wild pitch, and scored on a sacrifice fly to tie it at three.  Caracas broke the tie in the fourteenth on a leadoff homer by Carlos Perez (Houston).

ANZOATEGUI 9, LARA 4 IN LARA (GAME 1--7 INNINGS)

Anzoategui:  Jose Castillo was 1-for-2 with a walk, scoring twice and driving in two.  Balbino Fuenmayor (Toronto) was 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs.  Richard Salazar (Baltimore) pitched two perfect innings with one strikeout.

Lara:  Jairo Perez (Mets) was 1-for-3 with a double, scoring once and driving in two.  Jose Yepez (Atlanta) was 2-for-2 with a run.  Richard Castillo (Colorado) pitched a scoreless inning, allowing one hit and striking out one.

The game:  Fuenmayor doubled in a run for Anzoategui to tie it at four in the fourth.  In the fifth, Anzoategui scored five times, with two-run singles by Castillo and Fuenmayor keying the rally, to take control of the game.

ANZOATEGUI 5, LARA 4 IN LARA (GAME 2--9 INNINGS--SCHEDULED 7 INNINGS)

Twins:  Dubal Baez was used by Lara as a pinch-runner but did not score.

Anzoategui:  Oscar Salazar was 3-for-4 with two RBIs.  Emerson Landoni (Atlanta) was 1-for-4 with a double and a walk, scoring twice.  Pedro Rodriguez pitched a perfect inning with one strikeout.

Lara:  Anderson De La Rosa (Angels) was 2-for-3 with a double, scoring once and driving in one.  Carlos Rivero (Boston) was 1-for-4 with a home run, his fourth.

The game:  Balbino Fuenmayor (Toronto) doubled and scored in the top of the seventh to put Anzoategui up 4-3, but an error tied the score at four after seven.  In the ninth, another error produced the go-ahead and ultimately winning run for Anzoategui.

ZULIA 6, LA GUAIRA 4 IN LA GUAIRA (11 INNINGS)

Zulia:  Mark Minicozzi (San Francisco) was 3-for-5 with a home run (his second) and a double, driving in three.  Giovanny Urshela (Cleveland) was 3-for-6 with a double, scoring once and driving in three.  Ramon Garcia struck out two in two shutout innings, giving up two hits.

La Guaira:  Rene Reyes was 3-for-6 with two doubles and a run.  Alex Cabrera was 2-for-4 with a walk.  Edgmer Escalona (Yankees) pitched five innings, allowing one run on four hits and a walk with three strikeouts.

The game:  Jose Martinez (Atlanta) singled in a run in the eighth for La Guaira to tie the game at four.  Urshela singled in the go-ahead and ultimately winning run in the eleventh.
