MAYAGUEZ 12, SAN JUAN 6 IN SAN JUAN
Twins: Daniel Ortiz was 4-for-6 with a double, scoring twice and driving in three for Mayaguez. Kennys Vargas was 1-for-3 with a double and two walks, scoring once and driving in two.
Mayaguez: Jesmuel Valentin (Philadelphia) was 2-for-3 with two walks, scoring three times and driving in one. Andrew Barbosa (Arizona) pitched three innings, giving up one run on two hits and a walk with two strikeouts.
San Juan: Ivan De Jesus (Boston) was 0-for-1 with three walks, scoring twice and driving in one. Jon Garcia (Dodgers) was 1-for-4 with a three-run homer. Christian Fletcha pitched a perfect inning.
The game: Leading 2-1 after five, Mayaguez scored seven times in the sixth to put the game out of reach. Yovan Gonzalez (Cincinnati) had a three-run double in the inning.
CAROLINA 9, CAGUAS 4 IN CAGUAS
Carolina: Jesus Feliciano was 3-for-5 with two doubles and three RBIs. Anthony Garcia (St. Louis) was 1-for-1 with two walks, scoring three times and driving in two. J. C. Ramirez (Cleveland) pitched 1.2 scoreless innings, giving up one hit.
Caguas: Henry Ramos (Boston) was 2-for-5 with two doubles, scoring once and driving in one. Rey Navarro (Cincinnati) was 2-for-5 with two runs. Luis Atilano pitched 1.2 scoreless innings, allowing no hits and no walks with one strikeout.
The game: It was tied at four after five and stayed there until the ninth, when Carolina scored five times. Jeff Dominguez singled in the go-ahead run and Feliciano capped the inning with a two-run double.
