Venezuelan View: Games of November 14

A pair of Arcias lead Margarita.  Ryan O'Rourke does all he can do for Zulia.  Adonis had a beauty of a day for Magallanes.

ZULIA 2, LARA 1 IN ZULIA

Twins:  Ryan O'Rourke struck out the only man he faced for Zulia.

Lara:  Paulo Orlando (Kansas City) was 2-for-4 with a double.  Cesar Hernandez (Philadelphia) was 1-for-3 with a double and a walk.  Erasmo Rodriguez pitched six shutout innings, giving up no hits and one walk with five strikeouts.

Zulia:  Freddy Galvis (Philadelphia) was 1-for-3 with a double and a run.  Aaron Altherr (Philadelphia) was 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI.  Yeiper Castillo (Oakland) pitched six shutout innings, allowing three hits and three walks with three strikeouts.

The game:  Each team scored once in the seventh.  In the ninth, Giovanny Urshela (Cleveland) walked, took second on a bunt, and scored on Altherr's single to win the game.

ANZOATEGUI 3, MARGARITA 1 IN MARGARITA

Twins:  Oswaldo Arcia was 2-for-4 with a home run (his third) for Anzoategui.

Anzoategui:  Orlando Arcia (Milwaukee) was 2-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI.  Daryl Thompson struck out five in 5.1 innings, giving up one run on eight hits and a walk.

Margarita:  Eliezer Alfonzo was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.  David Peralta (Arizona) was 2-for-4 with a run.  Eric Berger (Atlanta) struck out seven in five innings, allowing one run on six hits and no walks.

The game:  Orlando Arcia doubled in a run in the seventh to break a 1-1 tie.  Oswaldo Arcia homered in the eighth to provide an insurance run.

MAGALLANES 5, CARACAS 3 IN MAGALLANES

Caracas:  Jesus Aguilar (Cleveland) was 2-for-4 with a home run (his third) and a walk, driving in two.  Daniel Mayora (Dodgers) was 2-for-4 with a home run, his third.  Miguel Socolovich (Mets) retired all five men he faced, striking out one.

Magallanes:  Adonis Garcia (Yankees) was 2-for-3 with a three-run homer (his second) and a walk, scoring twice.  Ramon Hernandez was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.  Anthony Larew (Angels) struck out two in 1.2 scoreless innings, allowing one hit and two walks.

The game:  Caracas scored two in the fifth to take a 3-2 lead, but Magallanes came back as Garcia hit a three-run homer in the seventh.  Caracas did not get a man past first after that.

ARAGUA 5, LA GUAIRA 1 IN LA GUAIRA

Twins:  Argenis Diaz was 2-for-4 with a home run and a double, scoring twice and driving in two.

Aragua:  Jose Martinez was 3-for-5 with a double and a run.  Doug Mathis (Tampa Bay) pitched six innings, giving up one run on three hits and two walks with one strikeout.

La Guaira:  Rene Reyes was 2-for-3 with a double and a walk, driving in one.  Odubel Herrera (Texas) was 2-for-4 with a double and a run.  Edgmer Escalona (Yankees) pitched six innings, allowing four runs (two earned) on eleven hits and no walks with three strikeouts.

The game:  Diaz doubled in a run and later scored in the second to make it 2-0.  Avisail Garcia (White Sox) tripled in a run and later scored in the fifth to make it 4-0 and Aragua was never threatened.
