We finally got out to Saddle Mountain Brewery, just a couple of miles from my home. We'll be back.

Overheard some kid say Santa is his hero because he comes to bring him gifts. I had to say something, so I told the kid, "He's not our hero. He's a silent guardian. A watchful protector. A dark knight." Just spreading holiday cheer.

Bud Selig's one out-going regret as MLB commissioner is not creating a system where 12 people vote which team plays in the World Series.
I've been going through the Studio Ghibli films with my older two.
Right now, we're on Pom Poko which is about Raccoon's attempts to thwart development of their forest. (But nothing like Over the Hedge.)
Early in the movie, we learn that Raccoons (actually Raccoon-Dogs, a different species from East Asia) are shape-shifters of the forests, and only foxes and some cats are also capable of shape-shifting.
I have now decided that when the kids ever get scared of ghosts or weird sounds, I'll just say that it was probably a raccoon or fox playing tricks on us.
(Though that won't solve their fear of Coyotes.)
I won't warn them about fox-wifes though. (Do male foxes ever fall in love with and marry human women?)
The Gophers are going to a New Years Day bowl game for the first time since the 1960s.
Woo-hoo!! Finally had some good luck. Ohio State getting into the playoffs and Mississippi State passing Michigan State in the rankings made this possible. Also, Wisconsin and Nebraska have been recently to this bowl or the area, so I think the B1G stepped in and required the Citrus to take Minnesota. Now Gopher fans need to flock to Florida to show their willingness to support the team because you can't count on the B1G to step in to help you out each year.
Indeed.
Also, the Gophers jumped up in the rankings to #25.
That least New Year's bowl game was 1962, so it will be over 50 years since playing on New Year's.
Just outside my office is the 4-inch gun that, 73 years ago today, fired America's first shots of WWII. It was crewed by Naval Reservists from Minneapolis/ St. Paul and sank a Japanese mini-sub just outside the entrance to Pearl Harbor. I'd heard the history before, but didn't know of the connection to MN.
Blue Jays are interested in TR to become their President of baseball operations. Don't see it happening and I don't think it's the first time the Blue Jays have been interested in TR over the years.
get r dun tradr billy!
They better make them take i-i as a sweetener!
According to LEN3, Twins have expressed interest in Liriano and Neshek. Liriano does require a draft pick, but I believe the Twins' first round is protected.
Yeah, their first round pick is protected and they were granted a "Competitive Balance" pick in next year's draft as well, so the lost draft pick wouldn't be the end of the world. I'd love them to bring back Liriano.

We're getting the band back together.
