That is, like, the least surprising injury I have ever heard about.
over-use injury?

The best part is that he kept playing and started shooting left handed.
Heh.
A gunner to the end.
Today is national pie day. That is all.
Dammit, I wish someone would have told me yesterday so I could have gotten a crust ready.
You still have time! Although this recipe is for a savory pie crust for empanadas and such. I keep two discs in the freezer for those nights where I don't want to cook, but don't want to go out. Mix up some black beans with sautéed onion and peppers with left over chicken and a shot of hot sauce or red chili sauce and you've got easy dinner.
For a flaky cust, make sure the butter and shortening are cold. Our Food staff loved the flavor the apple cider brings to the crust. (Ice-cold water may be substituted.)
Makes 2 dough disks
Ingredients
+ Add To Shopping List
2 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup plain yellow cornmeal
2 tablespoons sugar $
3/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup cold butter, cut into 1/2-inch pieces
1/4 cup chilled shortening, cut into 1/2-inch pieces
8 to 10 Tbsp. chilled apple cider
Preparation
Prep: 15 Minutes
Chill: 1 Hours
1. Stir together first 4 ingredients in a large bowl. Cut butter and shortening into flour mixture with a pastry blender until mixture resembles small peas. Mound mixture on 1 side of bowl.
2. Drizzle 1 Tbsp. apple cider along edge of mixture in bowl. Using a fork, gently toss a small amount of flour mixture into cider just until dry ingredients are moistened; move mixture to other side of bowl. Repeat procedure with remaining cider and flour mixture.
3. Gently gather dough into two flat disks. Wrap in plastic wrap, and chill 1 to 24 hours.
Might have to give that a try. That, or go with a graham cracker crust.
Today is national pie day.
I thought that was in March. This is the one for non math geeks?
Psh. There's a pie day in February. There's Pi Day in March. There's Pie Week in June. And let's not even get into National Pie Consumption Month, where the NFL paints the 50 yard line with meringue to "raise awareness" of pie. The whole thing is a sham. Pie Day is a manufactured holiday, made by Hallmark and Brachs Keebler to sell cards and chalky candy premade pie crusts.
Interesting. I am reminded of the myths tested on MythBusters about splitting an arrow and catching one.
Years ago my TV station in Iowa did a story about a local Olympic archer training for Barcelona. I watched the raw video, the guy put three arrows in the bullseye, then split two of them with his next three shot.
Apparently the braintrust at Intuit decided that they could remove Schedules C, D and E from the standard "Deluxe" version of the software in order to upsell everyone to a much more expensive version. Schedule D is for reporting of capital gains. If you sold stocks, you probably have to file this schedule. If you own mutual funds, you may have to file it.
I guess I'll be downloading the H&RBlock program this year and looking for a new program for next year.
Well, fuck me. I already got mine, too, and I need Schedule C for my wife's housecleaning business. At least mine is still unopened and I can return it.
Taxact?
I don't know what schedules they include/exclude, but I've been happy with them.
I tried Turbotax last year (the part that was free) and found it annoying. Not sure why.
I have always used Taxact. I love it.
I loved it too. Once I got married, had a kid, owned two homes, and had investments, I lost confidence in my ability to catch everything. My accountant is fantastic and it's worth the peace of mind for me.
I've always filled out my taxes online on both Turbo and Tax Act. Make sure they match, and then file on teh cheaper one.
That's old news -- Intuit has already announced they'd refund the extra $$ if C/D/E were needed. I was going to buy TaxAct but dropped for TurboTax again just because it interacts with Quicken
yea, well, a lot of effing good that does for those of us who already purchased and installed. They should just make the C/D/E components available as free updates rather than forcing customers to beg for a refund after buying their crap twice.
Now Get off My Tax Lawn.
I didn't even have Lexicon checked out from the library for 36 hours I read it so quickly. Cracking good read, couldn't put it down.
BTW, the Pie Day thread above is classic WGOM.
Take that, Shecky. Apparently, injuries can take longer than expected to recover from and it has nothing to do with the player's desire to play.
No one elected to Twins Hall of Fame. If Dazzle can't make it while he's a broadcaster, there's no one else worthy of election and the Twins are focusing on the team's past glory, I don't think he'll ever make it.
There is a God!
ALERT: my tv guide says that Curling is on NBCSN at 10pm central time.
Indeed. This will be a weekly Friday occurrence. It is also available on the NBC sports live app (with someone's cable login information.)
Good for NBC. They've cut back on their downhill skiing coverage in recent years (shifting it to the hard to find Universal Sports channel), glad they are showcasing some Olympic sports.
I see absolutely no mention of curling anywhere on the NBC Sports site (and app).
Its on. I've had it on in the background.
I couldn't find it on the app either. I'm none too impressed by that.
They are like photocopiers. If you show desperation, they will break down. So be cool.
Klay Thompson with 37 points in a quarter! Only had 15 points the rest of the game. He needs to decide just how much he really wants to play basketball.
Kobe Bryant needs to retire.
That is, like, the least surprising injury I have ever heard about.

I'm confused. Could you explain that with a pie chart?
Certaintly
Ah. That clears it up.
I've made the big time, you guys. I just got followed on teh twitters by an account featuring "live content...curated by top...influencers."
Wow. That's Boss.
It's been quite a week on Twitter. Balls to the wall, you might say.
Speaking of which, this just soiled my twitter feed.
Talk about doubling down on the stupid.

A sad day for baseball.
