Also, big thanks to cheaptoy for an epic(a) week.

Ray McKinley was easy to figure out. No luck yet with John.
(p.s. the rating stars have gone missing again)
Got it! Johnny Desmond.
Fixed.
Does it ruin everything if I tell you this song refers to the Hotel Pennsylvania, which is located in New York City? The hotel supposedly has the New York phone number in longest continuous use.
I love how jazz conductors go about their business. I have several band instructor friends, and they all say their job is to get the ball rolling and then get out of the way. The best description I heard was one who said, "I'm just priming the pump."
Oh, and two words: hat mutes!
very true on jazz conducting, at least when you get past the very beginner phase. Our band director does a lot more conducting with the beginner group than the "advanced" group, and none at all with the small combos.
