...let's play Hungry Hungry Hippos.
One of my damn wiener friends couldn't get over last night, so I still haven't tried the new batch I brewed. On the upside, I had a single of this to cure the blues. Holy shamoles.

I'm totally looking forward to seeing some of you guys* tomorrow. My cell is
=(2562512478)*2 if there's anyone who'd like to get in touch via text.
*Swype tried to make this say "your guts", which I guess would have also worked.
So we talked about a mini-caucus get together and basic time (roughly 10:00a to 2:00p). But we haven't talk where and who all is interested. (Although I think I remember Scot and Sean expressing some interest).
So for all citizens: Who wants to get together for a mini-caucus and where shall we meet?
Depending on the timing I'm interested.
O.k. I think I'm going to make an Executive Decision and say Low Brow. They have a decent brunch and have alcohol if one is so inclined. They are located at 4244 Nicollet Avenue South in Minneapolis. Again from around 10:00a to 2:00p or so.

It would be nice to use this thread to say if you think you can make it.
The Valet and I should be able to make it.
Cool, be there as near as 10 as possible, barring getting lost and/or parking issues.
I doubt it, as my in-laws are supposed to be coming tomorrow at noon. If they cancel, it will be because the rest of my house is too sick, which also makes it unlikely.
Yeah, I definitely can't make it. EAR is the only other person in the house with health, and she's using that to sit her young nephew until her folks can arrive.
Maybe next time, Magoo.
I will be there.
I can't make it but am taking the boy to Blue Door for lunch today.
Don't think I can make it (because kids). Too bad you're not around downtown for lunch today to save me from my out-of-ingredients-and-inspiration peanut butter toast!
out-of-ingredients-and-inspiration peanut butter toast
So, just "toast" or just "peanut butter"?
Fortunately, I had bread and peanut butter, as well as access to a toaster. I was just out of anything else to make it more interesting.
We're still missing 5 teams from last year (Moonlight Graham, St. Paul Saints, Reticulating Splines, Tricycle Frogs and SoCal Sluggies). Please let me know if you are interested this year, and if there is a better email address to invite you at.
Also, the draft is still scheduled for the default time (March 1 at 2:00 Central). I'm planning on changing the time, but I wanted to know people's preferences. My thought would be later in the evening (after 7:30 or so), with no preference for weekend or weekday.
Whoa, that's fast. My preference would be later for sure. Also, when do you need keepers by?
Looks like the league is set up to draft on 4/1. That would be better for me.
I agree with this. I wouldn't be able to make a March 1st draft no matter what time it was at.
Sorry - my brain isn't working well this morning. UncleWalt's right about April 1. The draft has to happen by April 5 in order to be ready for opening day. I was thinking the draft would be sometime late March or early April, with keepers due a week or two before the draft.
April 1? Sounds like a fool's errand to me.
I'm in, just haven't had time to do anything about making that happen.
I'm interested and have just forgot to renew. I will do so tonight.
For time, my preference would be any time after 7:30 pm. After 8:00 would be best, but I am mostly available before that.
I'm in, just haven't gotten around to signing up yet.
And I like late at night.
I don't think I'll have time for managing a fantasy baseball team what with managing a real Little League team and all.
I'm not judging.
from Vienna
My local birdcage liner told me this morning that Johan Santana has signed a minor league deal w/invitation with Toronto.

Live long and prosper.
RIP Leonard Nimoy, dead at 83.
This is a sad day.
Don't worry, he comes back in the next movie.
Will I think of you only when I die
And realize that I am born again
For dying is a beginning
And I have died thousands of times
Sometimes several times a day
I am learning from each death
Comes a new vision of life
A new sense of the miracle of being and creation
For fear is worse than dying
Fear prevents discovery and destroys
The creative flow of God man's soul
And when I let my old self harden, and rigid, die
I am reborn vital open and fresh
And this discovery, this victory over the fear of death
Came when I thought I was dead and found you
So each time I rise out of the ashes of my fear,
I will gratefully think of you.
L. Nimoy
Dropped in on Ft Desoto this AM; skirted by Trop Field on the way back towards the hotel.
Anyone have any opinions on which hues are represented in a photograph of some garment?
EAR, HPR, CER, and I just watched this a few days ago, so i'm all "meh". It looked different on different monitors, as well.
My position is that the dress ought to be a particular set of colors, because it looks better that way. "Is" is a much less interesting question than "ought."
I'd need to see who's wearing it. Different things work better on different people.
Who said anything about it being worn?
I'm still trying to figure out what happened with the llamas.
I think they were white and gold.
Skim just got done reading a biography on Anastasia, and was devastated to learn that things didn't go quite as they did in the animated movie. There were several choices on how to present their book reports, and long before she was done with the book she chose the "party planner" option, where you make a guest list, a menu, a list of activities...that sort of thing. So her poster has a bunch of colored paper balloons, one for each item, leading to the end on a pink balloon where she mentions that outside of Anastasia and her brother Alexei, the entire family was slaughtered. As a guy who's into gallows humor, it's one of the funniest things I've seen in a while.
Skim's also held true to the idea that she might want to be a professional party planner for a while now. She put together my birthday party in October, and honestly, I've never had an adult do as good a job as she did for me.
Things that suck: rental cars with dead cigarette lighters so that the GPS dies. Yes, our phones will do the job, but this means depending on Mrs Runner to read it to me.
those things do suck. Last time it happened to me i was smartphone-less and by myself. Now i always carry this when i travel.
Australia vs New Zealand - ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 - Match 20 Fri Feb 27 2015 20:00:00 in 20 minutes. Hosts cage-match (and 2 of the top 3 teams so far).
Only when you go to full screen mode do you get rid of the insufferable pop-up ads.
I grabbed this on a whim today (stupid liquor store putting it by the checkout.) It's easily the best pepper beer I've ever had. I'm not sure how a whole bomber is gonna go (but i do know what the 12% will do), but I'm game.
I don't know if anyone else thinks about him anymore, but
Glitter's going to be in jail for a while.
