Ms. Holter is indescribable. Avant Garde? Classical? Pop? Ambient? I dunno. Just call her brilliant.
And because she can't be pigeonholed:
Her re-imagining of friend Jib Kidder's "My Baby" is as close to rock and roll as anything she's done. (I want a whole record of this.)

  1. "City Appearing" is fantastic and also a nice way to ease into Monday. The voting stars are missing, but I'd give it at least a 9.

  2. Pepper (or anyone else), if you want to sample more of what a terrific live performer Ms Holter is, you can watch/listen/download an excellent 2014 live performance in London here. You can also stream her and the Spektral Quartet performing Alex Temple's Behind the Wallpaper and a few of her own pieces on NYPR. Totally bewitching stuff.
