One thought on “Mott The Hoople – Roll Away The Stone”
As long as I'm researching random things, Mott the Hoople is the name of a 1966 novel by Willard Manus. Apparently hooples are squares, and the main character of the book, Norman Mott, is a scammer. Guy Stevens, a music producer and manager, read the novel while in prison for a drug offense. After he got out, he convinced the band Silence to change their name to Mott the Hoople.
My favorite review on Amazon: "I recently purchased this book and was sadly surprised to find out it had NOTHING to do with the band, other than that this was the book that guy stevens got the name for the band from. "
