Trevor May has got this pickoff a runner thing down.
Torii just got underneath it. dang.
No hitter watch is in effect.
YDNROAH!
That seemed rather shallow to try to tag up, especially for someone like Morales. It was on on-target throw but Hicks didn't set up that well underneath it. Morales was still easily out.
So, where did the clubhouse guys forget to pack up the Twins' 1st inning scoring machine?
FSN with the no-hitter alert on the scoreboard already.
Giants pitcher Chris Heston with a no-hitter against the Mets. Anybody know when the last time two no-hitters occurred on the same day?
There was the back-to-back no-hitters on some TV broadcast day. Looking through play index now.
Checking Wikipedia,
Two no-hitters have been thrown on the same day twice: Ted Breitenstein and Jim Hughes on April 22, 1898; and Dave Stewart and Fernando Valenzuela on June 29, 1990.
I just came across the 1898 two. Good to see it happened at least once in the modern era.
No need to make history here, especially with May giving up just 1 run.
Jim Hughes? Wait, I thought he came up with the Twins and didn't pitch for anyone else before that.
There were two consecutive no-hitters on April 27, albeit in 2002 and 2003.
June 29 1990. Dave Stewart and Fernando Valenzuela.
Plouffe! there it is!
Heh, the right-fielder had to chase the ball almost to the infield before throwing to third.
That'll do Plouffe.
Heh. I was looking at old Twins commercials and saw the Willingham in a smoking jacket bit. I really enjoyed that guy...not Thome level enjoyment, but fun to have a quality basher like that on our squad.
Man, what a play by Escobar. Nice scoop by Hosmer too.
Doesn't help to have Kurt running up the line.
I'm awfully lazy tonight, so are the Twins towards the bottom in pitches/PA this season? It sure seems like they're frequently showing no interest in working the count.
I see they're seventh in percentage of pitches swung at. Can't find pitches/PA right now.
league average is 3.79. Twins at 3.77 (16/30 teams)
KC is last at 3.63.
Boyer wanting me in bed earlier tonight.
I'm starting to dislike this Royals club. Not as much as I'm currently disliking this Twins club, but I suppose that's relative.
I just find it demoralizing that whenever the Twins hit a ball hard, there's always a Royal standing there.
I was thinking the same thing.
This is the offense I was expecting this season. I want the smoke & mirrors back
Me too.
Even good offenses go through slumps. Twins have already demoted Santana and brought up Vargas and still have no place for Arcia, who had two hits tonight for Rochester. It's the top of the order that has really hit the skids of late. At what point do the Twins move Mauer? Arcia was batting .276/.338/.379 before getting hurt and is stuck in AAA. Mauer is batting .260/.322/.358 and is playing first base and batting third.
Top of the order = first inning runs, so that is kind of the point we were making earlier
I've wondered that same thing. Not that they have a lot of obvious candidates to bat third, but much as I like Mauer, his .680 OPS in the third spot isn't helping.
Well now. That's one way of expressing your frustration, eh?
Already down 1-0
That seems to be the way it's been going lately.
I predict a Twins home run this inning.
maybe next inning.

He did. He was not born in 1874 however.
okay, just checking.
