Time to get the first leg of the drive out of the way. I've actually been looking forward to the journey, but we'll see if this was foolhardy on my part.

The Padre mentioned it first yesterday, but it might have got lost in the shuffle:
Twins will give 16-year-old shortstop Javier record $4 million
His first name is Wander. The jokes write themselves if he has any fielding issues.
Or if his batting average is low:
One-hit Wander
Clearly his walk-up music should be Dion.
"That thing you do!"
every time he gets a BB, play Del Shannon's "Runaway"
"wonder" dude. Dion is the right answer.
Dude. Del Shannon wrote "Runaway."
Oh,. I know the song and the composer; we sing it at the nursing home periodically. But it's one thing to "wonder", while Dion wrote "The Wanderer" -- spot on.
"I wah-wah-wah-wah-wonder..." π
but, yea, ok.
I was mostly focusing on the first lines and the BB event.
which applies to everyone, not just Wander. Thank you for playing.
Trevor Plouffe giving a little insight into the in field discussions
Due to circumstances largely but not entirely beyond my control, Minor Details will be delayed. I'll get to it as soon as I can.
Scoscia says Hamilton should apologize to Moreno. Can the Halos get even more unlikeable?
Depends upon whether we're talking ordinal or cardinal unlikeability.
I feel retroactively gross for rooting for them in 2002
sorry, but I can't stay mad at the Cardinals. The Angels, however... (effin' Adam Kennedy!)
Can the Halos get even more unlikeable?
The bring Derek Jeter out of retirement.
Trade for A-Rod.
Sadly, I think having Jeter and A-Rod on their team would make them more likable.
OK. How about trade for Pierzynski?
if Hunter comes over as well and says L.A. was always his favorite place to play, I'm on board
Hire Scioscia's son or brother.
Lake of the Ozarks has a No Wake Policy in effect over the July 4th weekend, and we've had localized flooding off and on this past week. We've had nine straight Sundays with rain. California, come and get your water, please.
I'm not sure how the ordinance will play at LotO -- place is the closest thing I've found that resembles Frogger in real life.
Robinson placed on family emergency list, Hicks off the DL. I sure hope his daughter is OK.
Radcliff talks about Burdi.
Minor Details is finally posted.
Wow. WTF happened in Portland that everyone wants out all of a sudden? LMA possibly to the Spurs (although still not settled), Wes Matthews signs with Dallas, and Robin Lopez seriously considering becoming the New Tyson Chandler for the Knicks. Just months ago, we were talking about how Portland was on the cusp of being a great team....
Why LMA should definitely return to Portland.
Word to cheaptoy, amongst others who can be barley persuaded.
I've already sent a letter to Neil Olshey offering my services. I can be signed for a lot less than LMA, too!
Pretty nice to have a half day of work and come home to ESPN showing baseball games all day
CC: to Nibs. Don't got look at the picture of the "Giant Texas Redhead" found in Garner state park. Everyone else, it's pretty neat looking.
I'm clearly not going to click on that link (even Googling the park let me know that I'm going to follow this rabbit hole exactly zero farther)
On a related note, Linds has apparently been finding an occasional centipede in our house lately. Since she loves me and doesn't want to lose me to a heart attack/divorce, she hasn't been showing them to me, but it's pretty much the worst thing, all the same. This has never really been a thing before, and I'm strongly considering burning the place to the ground.
Don't do that. They love ashes.
Are they "plain" centipedes, or House Centipedes (Scutigera coleoptera)? Because the latter are pretty neat (and beneficial), and creepy fast
House Centipede needs a coat of arms.
Creepy fast is good?
So, clearly I need a back story here. I've known you internet-ally for a while now, and the only clue I had to your fear of centipedes was the "Suck It Nibbish" page on Casa. So, where does this irrational fear of centipedes come from?
Centipedes are the only creature that really ooks me out. I loved bugs as a kid (I like spiders and loved grasshoppers), but centipedes were nasty.
Then I went on a trip to Mexico with the youth group and the was about a six inch long one walking in the ceiling of the mess hall. My good friends grabbed my arms and legs and held me under it. That pretty much took the whole "I hate centipedes" thing and redlined it.
I was quite tempted to put up a more innocuous sounding link, so that you'd click on it. But that would just have been too cruel.
Maybe next time.
I found a place in St. Paul that has sixers of Lone Star tallboys for $5.99.
Anyone up for watching the World Cup final on Sunday?
Yes, but I don't think that's what you meant.
Too bad NFL players do not have a union.
Start printing those playoff tickets, Knicks fans. Derrick Williams is coming to town.
