My first day back at work was marked with a dust storm/monsoon that totally killed business. Boredom settled in quickly.

I'll trade your boredom for a week for my 50 hour weeks where I barely see my family. I had a client call me the other day in the middle of a domestic assault.
Victim or perp?
Either way, respect, man. Tough job.
Stupid cars. The Pacifica had a bad manifold absolute pressure sensor. Now, it's incredibly easy to get to, right on top of the engine. Of course, it cost $60 while the leaking oil pressure sensor costs $15 but is nearly impossible for me to get to, necessitating taking it in.
On the positive side, that air pressure switch was responsible for the cruise control not working.
It was a beautiful night for soccer last night in Cowtown. Sorry, no pictures.
Bonney Field is located at CalExpo, the site of the California State Fair, which just happens to be going on right now. Finding parking was an ordeal, as the Fair had massively understaffed the parking areas. We had to wander and wander until we found a spot of dubious legality and safety. Luckily, I was not driving. The stadium itself is fairly small, but it was packed (attendance was over 11,000), with lots of Newcastle jerseys in evidence. We were sitting in the General Admission endzone area about ten rows up and just inside the box. These turned out to be great seats, as a lot of the first half action was right in front of us as Sacramento Republic pressed the attack. Also, almost immediately adjacent to the Tower Bridge Battalion, which was fun.
Newcastle had already played two games during the week (as had Sac Republic), so they may not have been in tiptop shape. Sacramento had numerous good chances (one goal nullified on an offsides call; we were sitting on the other end of the field, so couldn't judge the call, but the goal came on like the third rebound shot so we were wondering "what the hell?").
Newcastle won 1-0, with the only goal scored on an own goal right in front of us. Booo. Defender was charging straight at us just wide of the near post and absolutely hammered the ball (from a cross) at an angle into the far third of the net. If he'd let the ball go, it would have gone out for a goal kick, but he must have thought an attacker was on his shoulder. Too bad.
Newcastle mustered only a couple of decent attacks, but completely owned the air. Sac finally gave up even trying corners, going with short corners on, I think, three straight in the second half.
A Newcastle player picked up a red card about half way into the second half to put them a man down, but it didn't make a very obvious difference.
Tim Krul played the first half in goal (in front of us) and was outstanding with, I think, three saves. Sissoko and Obertan played the entire game and were impressive. Sissoko is really big and really strong. Vurnan Anita, I think, was the other guy who really impressed. Wee little guy with jets. Jack Colback played the entire game -- meh. I'm sure there were other regulars out there, but I could not identify them (we didn't get a game program).
anyway, a fun time was had by all. I'll definitely plan to go back to see the Republic play again. Fun atmosphere. Lots of excellent craft beers available on tap for only ridiculous prices ($10 for a "small," $16 for a "large," which they claimed was 20 oz.; I opted for a Saint Archer Blonde , advertised as a Kölsch. I'd never had it before and was looking for something low-alcohol and refreshing. Sadly, out of a big plastic cup, it tasted like Miller Lite and maybe was, for all I know. I should have chosen the Knee Deep Citra. Oh, well.).
Yikes. Maybe $10 for a Lift Bridge Cross Cut pale at Target Field isn't so bad.
Well, maybe it was $14. 😉
We got up to the front of the line to hear that they were out of Blue Moon. Oh noes!
CoC, I hope the storm the other night didn't cause any trouble for you--either in terms of water or trees. Part of a tree came down on the bread oven at my church, and I saw another tree down by one of the car dealerships near there when we drove by this morning.
Thanks for the thoughts - no major damage at my place. Tons of leaves and branches in the yard and pool, but no trees down. My sweet corn is all bent sideways 45 degrees like crop circles, but it doesn't look dead. Something did come through and decimate my peas and beans though...that stings a bit.
I thought the Lydia concert was last night and after much internal deliberation, I was too tired from my day of cutting down an apple tree in the heat to go to the show.
Now I find out I had the wrong date and I have to deliberate all over again, on a school night at that.
Right now I still think I'm going.
Gosh, I'm a no. Feeling old this weekend, not up for staying out late.
I mostly wanted to go just for the bootleg so I could hear the new songs repeatedly.
Some of the new songs were great, others not so much.
A bit of a drunken mess last night but also some great performances.
I expected no less. Isn't that most every LL shows?
I think it's a good thing I didn't go. AJR started upchucking around 11:30. If I hadn't yet been home, it would not have fallen to EAR to do both child and bed cleanup.
I wish I could've made it, but my wife was very appreciative of my presence at home last night. For the first weekend in probably six or seven weeks, we had absolutely nothing planned, so we actually relaxed for a change. I even skipped mowing the lawn!
This was more of a drunken mess then previous. The guitar player got really drunk and smashed stuff during the last song and basically fell off the stage mid-song and didn't return. When the song was done, LL looked and acted pissed, kicked the mic stand and left the stage. You knew there was going to be no encore.
Also lots of drunken in-between song banter by LL, most of it kind of dumb.
It was being filmed for the documentary so I will be really interested to see how that movie plays out.
It was louder and rockier than last November. Some of the new stuff was not very good at all, but a couple were really good. The classics were great however and she was in full voice.
Will be interesting to see how it goes at the Palomino Fest.
Not the only one who felt the same.
I never saw a Replacements show back in the 80's, but I imagine lots of them ended very similar to tonight's Lydia Loveless show at the Turf— Chris Trautman (@ctrauty) July 20, 2015

I've already purchased my tickets.
It was a disappointing show overall, in part because the bar had been set so high by the other times I have seen her live.

Luckily, plenty of Tecate still available....
BEHOLD! Destroyer of three year old knees!

Fun story.

Still, like free says, there was some great.
