Random things from Target Field last night:
A. I cheered ARod before the game, and before all of his at bats. He's doing an epic job of trolling, and I still want to reward that.
B. His first homerun still has not landed.
C. Perkins SHOULD have been brought in to face McCann in the eighth. I realize May got the strikeout and Perkins struggled, but hear me out:
1. Girardi's other bench bats were Garrett Jones and Didi Gregorious. He wasn't going to pull McCann to get a lefty-righty matchup.
2. It seems apparent that Perkins was getting ARod either way.
3. Perkins was ready for McCann. Once the inning ended, he was playing soft-toss to stay loose, but it's hard to maintain that edge for the ten minutes until the following inning.
D. ARod didn't take one practice swing in the ninth. Between the entire inning break, he stood leaning on his bat and just staring down Perkins. It was pretty spectacular to be that ridiculously talented to have it timed on the first fastball. When I saw how confident he looked, there was no doubt in my mind he was hitting another bomb.
E. Rough day for the first base ump. Good thing there are reviews.
F. Captain Cheeseburger's body language on Sano's infield single was spectacular. A quick pivot and then an eff-that gesture at the ball.
G. The Yankees fans were much, MUCH more behaved than the Cubs fans earlier this year.
H. As mentioned on the Book of Face, I have now seen 5 Perkins inning this year in person and 7 of his 10 earned runs and all of his homeruns allowed. Ugh.
I. Jersey/shirsey count in the sections near me:

**Seriously! Long-sleeve. Why?! Also, even more bizarre: Sabres, not Wild
***I suppose it could have been Tino Martinez, but I think Cano's more likely.

And this is why going to the ballpark is better than watching on tv.

****Proof that I was not in attendance.
(Actually, the game was too hot for that anyways. I should have bought a Cool-Flo white.)
I really don't understand Carrera falling off the bag there
I didn't either. At first I thought maybe he was pushed, but on the replay it doesn't look like it. All I can figure is that he just lost his balance somehow.
If anything, his third-base coach knocked him down, but I think he just touched him on his back. I think he reacted to it, thinking he was being told to run and came back to his senses a fraction of a second too late.
Those cream M's jerseys look nice, at least from a distance.
I guess just about any team looks good in cream. Not the Dodgers or Cubs or Yanquis though.
Welp....
