The last time I did a joak about the year, you dudes came through with historical facts about the date. Let's do that again.

Is this the Cup of Coffee, then? Because I was going to take care of it...but this is probably it.
Yeah. spoons forgot to set the category.
It's so easy, even you could do it, Zee.
I wasn't going to say it...
I may have been...tipsy...last night.
I've realized that I get cranky when I'm idle on the weekends. Not "deliberate-idle" because I can handle that, but the "not relaxing but still not accomplishing anything-idle." Too often, our routine is to putz about while we figure out what we're going to try and "do" today. Yesterday morning I was released to stain the swingset, and the extended period of focus combined with a minor (or middling) sense of accomplishment just makes for a much better day off. Free* swingset now looks pretty good.
(* Plus shipping and handling.)
Also, for your amusement, I stubbed my toe trying to kick-save a mason jar falling off the counter. Jar survived, toenail probably wont.
'Details of assessment and questionable self-treatment choices'
After half a day of building pressure under the nail, I knew I needed to address it, so pierced the nail with a hot needle. It was then clear that I had space under there as I could see fluid moving under the nail, and could press and force additional fluid out. Concerned about having introduced bacteria into an inaccessible cavity, I surmised that if I could pump fluid out, I could probably get an antiseptic in. So I pressed on the nail, poured rubbing alcohol on the site, and released the pressure, thereby drawing the alcohol under the nail...and self-inflicting substantially more pain than I can recall ever having done previously. Short lived, but WOW.
When I end up with a "do-nothing" weekend, I allow myself to feel good about it because I probably deserved it (correct or not). Yesterday, for example, my main accomplishment was a Rick & Morty marathon. I really should get something done this afternoon, though...
Lot of good TV shows this year so I'm sure you can find another season to watch in a marathon
Being a homeowner has definetly kicked this same instinct into higher gear for me. Just finished up sawing a whole bunch of large branches that had fallen off of trees and/or been cut down into manageable pieces of firewood. With a bow saw, because I don't have anything more powerful. I feel sort of good about it. Would feel better if I'd done all of it, and not just half. But sawing many pieces of firewood is a lot of work. And my arm got tired.
I bought a 9' tree saw with an 8" electric chainsaw on it. I brought it up to my parents' place this week and yesterday I trimmed the tree in their back yard. I took a lot of branches off of it (with my brother's 8' ladder, I can reach a long ways up), so many that my dad was getting pretty nervous. I think it looks good now, but if my mother had had her way, I would have kept going.
What did the parents say when dropping their child off at NDSU?
Bye, son.
Just an excuse to note the grizzly loss yesterday.
That's a weird thing to say to their daughter.
especially since she's not going to NDSU!
somebody can't Bear to face yesterday's news....
Championships are won in January, my friend.
August 30, 1852 was August 19th in Alaska.
There was no August 30th in 1852 - - that was a leap year.
I admit to having done a double-take on that one. Well played.
Twins bench today is Plouffe, Hunter and Suzuki.
On this date in 1979, then-President Jimmy Carter was attacked by a rabbit.
But in all fairness it was a killer rabbit, with nasty, big, pointy teeth.
New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) said during a campaign event in New Hampshire on Saturday that the United States should track foreign visitors just like FedEx tracks packages — and that, as president, he would ask Fred Smith, the founder of FedEx, to work for the government for three months to set up such a system.
Are they going to tattoo a tracking mark on visitors' foreheads? Is he aware that FedEx has scanners at their facilities to scan tracking UPC symbols? Just how would we do that with visitors? Maybe they'll embed a chip in each visitor! That might work!
Personally, I think all these Trump wannabes are missing out on a key way to differentiate themselves. I would advocate building several walls, each higher than the previous one, with the highest wall being one mile high! Then I would build a wall on each of the coasts.
multiple walls...concentric circles, like Minas Tirith! but with the darkest brown people in the lowest rings, and only albinos in the top ring!!!111one111!!!!
That sums it up best.
I haven't been on the interwebs yet today, so I haven't read this yet. I'm sure it will have me beaming with pride though...

Go to the source, dude!
I was on my phone up at a cabin up north. I was going to do the bare minimum amount of work.

Arrieta just completed his 8th no-hit inning against the Dodgers.
Good for my fantasy team!
