How badly John Terry is playing (he spun around worse on Coutinho's second goal than Morales on that hilarious error last night)

Now this is interesting: NFL player sues Fan Duel for using players' names and likenesses without permission.
DraftKings, which was not named as a defendant in the suit, has a licensing and marketing agreement with the NFL Player's Association while FanDuel does not, USA Today reported. The newspaper said Garcon promoted FanDuel on his Twitter account last year.
the cross-town h.s. rivalry football game was last night. We don't go to the games anymore, what with no kid in the band, but this was kind of amusing (from the local birdcage liner):
Not a minute into Friday night’s Woodland vs. Pioneer football game — part 10, varsity style — the Pioneer High School rooting section fired the first shot across the Woodland rooting section’s bow.
We have bleachers (clap, clap, clap-clap-clap)!
We have bleachers (clap, clap, clap-clap-clap)!
Of course, Community Stadium, Woodland’s home field and Friday’s game site, has permanent bleachers too. They’re just dilapidated and hidden behind the temporary ones the Woodland school district installed a few weeks ago.
So a few minutes later, Woodland’s rooting section responded with a cheer that, if translated to a non-verbal version, could be interpreted as meaning Pioneer is No. 1.
In other words, it was another sometimes funky, sometimes funny, often chippy and always challenging Wolves/Patriots affair.
This single was released 40 years ago today (h/t Chris Jaffe, as always):

One of the things I love about that video is the way the cinematography matches the way the tracks of the song were mixed. The documentary Inside the Rhapsody is on Queen's YouTube channel and very much worth your time. Here's the part where Brian May talks about how it was recorded and mixed:

One of the things I respect most about Queen and bands like ELO, the Beatles, and the Beach Boys is the tightness of their vocal harmonies (and, obviously, leveraged that close harmony in their recordings). You can pick out the individual voices if you know what to listen for, but the whole sounds like it could be an organ.
Absolutely, and a lot of credit to the guys behind the mixing board, too. And before auto-tune too (thank God)
The Wild are 7-2-1. If the playoffs started today they'd be the 7 seed
Here we go again: Start hot, fade, come back, lose to the Blackhawks.
My sense is they will be a top 10 scoring team this year. (Barring injury).
The lines seem to be clicking very nicely.
Zucker Koivu Nino - has been their best overall line
Parise Granlund Pomminville - is being carried by Parise, but will score goals
Vanek Coyle Fontaine - looks strong with Vanek playing his best hockey in a couple years (so far)
Carter Haula Porter - has been a pleasant surprise.
Defense is out of whack right now, which makes Dubnyk look not nearly as dominate. Hopefully they figure it out.
Again, barring injury, I think they score more, and tighten up defensively. I would be surprised if we have long stretches of ineptitude like we had the past few years.
would be 3rd in the East
How does that work? They are tied for the second most points in their conference.
They are fourth in their division after tiebreakers. Top 6 seeds go to top 3 in each division.
Ohio State QB out - driving while impaired. 4ltr reports he was just over the legal limit, but I'm thinking they're ignoring that he's 20.
Guys, if the jalapeño asks for candy one more time, I'm going to lose it. Halloween on a weekend is a terrible idea.
Tums looks like candy.
Pretty good crowd tonite. A lot of little ones. Saturday and great temps.
We've had one group so far, consisting of two people. It rained all morning but had been a nice day since. However now I'm hearing some rain so that might be it for tonight. Still, that's an infinite percentage increase over last year.
Approaching dusk here. No kids yet.
Town has a dedicated time for trick or treating. Out with the kids for most of it. Pretty quiet out there though, and only one group stopped while we were around...
Approximately 20 kids came by.
We had about the same. Streetsvwere deserted and we shut down around 8:00.
We had close to 250. Open till 7:30 when the candy ran out. Most evah.
48 kids so disappointing. Beautiful temps but a little soggy from an earlier drizzle.
Bit worried about Runner daughter's dog Belle though. She got a lot of compliments from the kids, but she's been pretty lethargic since early afternoon, and I'm afraid she might have a digestive issue.
When we hit the streets just after 6:30, there were kids EVERYWHERE. We just put a bowl of candy out front, so I'm not sure how many kids actually came by, though our block is typically quieter than those nearby. I thought the weather was great--the whole endeavor was much easier without having to deal with the cold.
An element I hadn't seen before was groups of adults sitting outdoors and drinking alcohol while handing out candy.
There was one garage like that I'm my neighborhood this year. There was also another rather obnoxious group of about seven or eight parents walking around with their kids while drinking. They would stop at corners and do shots while the kids went around to a cluster of houses. It was... Not classy.
As I once fired through the tweeter: "The power of the state of Wisconsin to come together and, as a whole, collectively drink is positively amazing to behold."
Having gone to college in Wisconsin, I can agree with this. Although what stunned me even more was when stores would close during Packers games.
Same with respect to college in Wisconsin, though I've never seen a store close due to a packers game. That's my favorite time to go to the grocery store.
I've got no issue with drinking in public, having once played bocce ball through campus then downtown Menomonie with a nalgene bottle full of beamish. But standing around doing shots while your seven year old kids run across streets seems pretty loathsome.
I was at Octoberfest in La Crosse this year. Every baby/toddler I saw being carried was accompanied by a drink in the other hand.
Y'all don't live in New Orleans. Most family events here are fairly drunken. Different strokes, and being that I'm not s parent, I'll reserve judgement (except when I quietly judge them Minnesota style).
My neighborhood has only 6 houses so we head over to Woodbury to trick or treat with friends. My stroller had both a baby shark and a Furious in it last night. Our friends' stroller had similar accoutrements.
One house hands out hot cider (with cinnamon schnapps) in to-go cups to parents. 25 years later, I love trick or treating again.
It was probably just some of the smaller, independently-owned stores; not grocery stores or anything like that.
Our cul-de-sac pretty much goes black on Halloween. We usually aren't even home. We were tonight, but we only had the neighbor kids from across the street come to our door.
That was some amazingly incompetent clock management
And who runs a sneak without a quick count?
Just a terrible call all around. You don't score the first time, kick the bleeping field goal.
I have no problem with going for the win against a superior team. It was running the clock down from 19 seconds to 2 on the previous play. That was monumentally stupid. Give yourself 4 shots at it not just 2. They almost had only 1.
That play was monumentally stupid. Running all that motion burning up precious time. And then a nothing burger.

Didn't see the game, but I'm wondering if that or this is a worse way to lose.
That linked one is way worse.

Why in the world did Marco Bellinelli leave SAS to play for the Kings? Did they dump him to clear space for Aldridge?
Kings are battlingvthe Clippers down the stretch tonight despite Cuz being out with a sore achilles.
Don't forget to change your clocks tonight. An extra hour to sleep.
Or in my case, an extra hour to stay up and dink around.
