I'm having a hell of a sales week. I don't get particularly excited about that anymore after years of working for poor leadership in my department, but it's still cool, they tell me.

Back in July we had the chimney re-bricked - house was built in 1920 - pieces of brick were falling out and there was evidence of water down in the basement, so we needed to install a new chimney liner as well. The entire project lasted a week. The contractor did a good job, the workmen didn't trash the backyard, etc.
Yesterday we got the building permit in the mail to actually do the project from the City of Hartford. So either The City sat on it for 3 months or the contractor forgot to file the paperwork. Either way oy veh iz mir.
We miss you, FTLT. Buffalo in the news.

Anyone else riveted by what's happening at Mizzou?
Um...
So, no.
Not riveted, but interested.
Sure, your millage etc, but civil disobedience is always fascinating.
Agreed. Very interested to see what happens with this, especially considering how little power any students have in deciding how the universities they attend are run. Curious whether a group of highly publicized students will fare any better in having their voices heard.
When I was at UMD, then announced that they were going to reduce the hours of the Health Sciences Library by a day. A bunch of us who liked to study there (y'know, quiet amongst the racks of books) formed a sit-in. It was well attended and they reversed their decision. FTW!
This is excellent.
I only heard about it this morning. I like the news articles that state that Mizzou is 120 miles west of Ferguson, MO, but fail to say how many miles NE of Watts, CA.
To be fair, I would bet a fairly large percentage of people reading national news stories have no idea where Colombia is compared to Ferguson (or probably anywhere else in Missouri, for that matter...)
It's 120 miles west of St. Louis.
No, Colombia is a couple thousand miles south.... π
Back in undergrad was told Columbia would be a good grad school for Maths.
LaVine looking a little bit more like he has a clue tonight.
