somewhat apropos, my lovely wife spent a good chunk of her work day cleaning up a child who had a poop accident, then cleaning up the bathroom at the preschool where said poop accident occurred. Natch, yesterday apparently was World Toilet Day.
Sean/IT geyes alert:
My Belkin RG Backup Battery Unit started beeping this morning. Apparently, the battery needs replacing.
we canceled the telephone portion of our Uverse service several months ago, so I'm thinking I don't really need this thing anymore. Would you recommend I just leave the thing alone (I turned off the alarm) so that whatever line filtering the unit is doing continues, or get an adapter to plug my RG unit into the wall directly? (I haven't searched the house yet to see whether AT&T left us with a brick-and-adapter)
It appears it doesn't do any line filtering. There are UPS's that can do that and the price of the Belkin unit is roughly where those other UPS's are so it's possible.
Is the U-verse service over phone lines, fiber, or coax? What I'm wondering is if anything else other than the phone service was routed through this. If so, then it could have provided backup for accessing the WGOM other important things if you lost power. If not, then I think it's safe to stop using it.
It's fiber-to-the-premises in my neighborhood, I think (our neighborhood is about 18-19 years old). But yea, phone lines.
to clarify: all of the Uverse services come into the house on the same wire and go to the RG. Power for the RG goes through the BBU.
CC to CH and Zee (and anyone else with interest in The Global War on TerrorWorld War IV American Middle Eastern military policy), I've enjoyed most of the Westminster Town Hall Forum series entries that I've heard, and yesterday was no exception. Another perspective on LTC (Ret.) Bacevich's thoughts.
Thanks for the heads-up - this looks very interesting!
Also: CDs are burned. I'm hoping to get them to the PO tomorrow.
Sweet!

You guys and your impenetrable military acronyms!
Hey now -- their defense acronyms.
Holy Hell. The Warriors are out of this world.
Yes. Down by 20+ in the first quarter. No quit. That is what is possible when you have great shooters and ball handlers who share the ball and also play defense.
I fell asleep with about four minutes to go, pretty secure in the knowledge that the Clips would find a way to lose.
Eight of nine from three in the fourth quarter. Scored on every possession over the last 5:50.
Twins Add Seven To Their 40 Man Roster
They are LH SP Taylor Rogers, RH RP JT Chargois, OF Adam Brett Walker, LH SP Randy Rosario, RHP Yorman Landa, LH SP Pat Dean, LH RP Mason Melotakis.
...
Today's moves mean that several prospects will be eligible for the December 10th Rule 5 Draft. They include Corey Williams, Zack Jones, Luke Bard, Levi Michael, Felix Jorge and others.
I haven't been following it enough, but have the Twins soured on Levi Michael, or is there a reason he's less likely to get claimed?
He has been hurt a lot (only played 63 games at AA last year)
And he hasn't been very good when healthy, plus more likely to end up at second base. The Twins have Polanco ahead of him with more upside and another 1st round pick and Nick Gordon behind him. Plus they still have Danny Santana. Although, should I be worried Escobar is listed as an outfielder on the 40-man roster? Also, the Twins have 38 listed on the 40-man. Obviously, one is being left open for Park, but my guess is the Twins are expecting to select someone in the Rule 5 draft or are looking to sign another free agent. I'm guessing they are looking for more catching considering Suzuki and Murphy are the only catchers listed on the 40-man.
Paul Molitor in attendance at the Wolves game. Nice distraction from the poor decision-making of the second unit.
I hope this KAT thing isn't serious...
This letter frightened me. Fortunately by twitters were updated with a mention of a KAT block about a minute ago.
The way he was covering his face and hanging his head, I was afraid a concussion was looming. I guess it might be, but he came back into the game and he's been reasonably decent since.
Here's to hoping it's not, both for Towns and what it implies about the wolves protocols.
The offense just moves so much better with Rubio
If the twitters are correct, I'm led to believe that Smitch is stubbornly refusing to understand this.
Liam Hendriks on the move again. Traded to A's for Jesse Chavez.

The Twins had some bowlers back in the day.
Well I hope Pinto gets a fair shot in San Diego.
Edit: And stays healthy
Pinto claimed off waivers.

In other waiver claim news, Phillies claim A.J. Achter from the Twins.
