Has anybody been to Dangerous Man? I had a really tasty Belgian there that kicked my butt (9.6%) the other night after work. We've got four craft/micro breweries within a couple of miles of the office now -- DM, Fulton, Town Hall and Boom Island -- and the Surly beer hall is only five miles away. Location, location, location.
I have had some samples brought to me a while back, it was good. I was in Buffalo MN this weekend and stopped by Hayes Public Room a few times. Pretty cool Irish Pub feel, great beer, and the owner/brewer was cool to talk to. Of course it helped that I went with a good friend who is from Ireland. When I hang out with him, we tend to meet a lot of fun people. Big fan the Smoked Export, the Irish Cream and the Coffee Porter.
Zooomx, I stopped by your place the first weekend of December (it is the P&P, right?). I didn't bother to ask if you were there, mostly because I didn't know if you were KK or JB.
I think all enjoyed what they ate and we will certainly be back one time or another.
Yup, P&P and I am KK. Glad you enjoyed it. I was probably running around somewhere that night. Thanks for stopping in!
Not to mention Indeed, Bauhaus and Fair Trade all within a mile (or so) of Dangerous Man.
Actually, I failed to mention 612 because their beers aren't very good.
Buddy and I volunteered at Dangerous Man during the Art-A-Whirl last year - picked up trash, cleared and wiped tables and then played bags in exchange for volunteer t-shirts and two free beers...excellent.
After our shift, we walked over to Indeed and sampled three or four of their limited release/brewhouse tap only stuff. Also excellent (though that's a longer walk than it looks, and I got a call requiring my presence at home before I could stop by the bootsy showroom).
Fulton has been a stopping point before & after Twins games for a couple of years, as has The Freehouse (which is practically across the street from you Twayn) and I've purchased Boom Island, Sociable Cider Werks, Bauhaus and Fair Trade (not on-site) products with much success.
Dido on the 612 - disappointing, but they can't all be good.
It's a good thing I don't live near there ... I'd have trouble paying the mortgage.
Anybody taking time off the week after Christmas? I'm thinking a Nordeast brew pub caucus crawl might be fun.
Not sure why, but I tend to think of The Freehouse as a restaurant rather than a microbrewery, thought I really like the #3 Brown Ale they make there.
I could might make that work...or at least make one of the stops. However, the schedule for the next 10 days is pretty stacked, so I can't commit as fully as I'd like to.
I'm with Can of Corn: I may show up for a bit but doubt I can crawl.
The Flu last December and a Trip to Alaska plus various other stuff drained my PTO bank to the dregs.
Still taking off Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve.
Doesn't look like the timing is good, short notice and holidays and all, but I'm going to keep the idea alive and try for a more opportune time.
It looks we'll be out of town most of the next two weeks, more or less.
Finished with "only" 15 dimes. But didnt play much of the second half because the Wolves had a pretty comfortable lead.
That Nets team is awful. And since they traded away all their draft picks for the next 3 years....woof.
After all my complaining about tv resolution, I got a 4k tv today. Open box for the win. It was nearly half price. I also got a sound bar for half price, so I'm saying goodbye to the receiver and floor speakers I've had for fifteen years.
I did find out when I took the old tv down that out is a plasma instead of LCD like I previously stated. Gonna miss that guy.
Displacing my study from what is going to be the nursery necessitated moving all the bookcases out into the living room, where they joined the other bookcases. That in turn displaced the TV, receiver, and floor speakers (which are also about fifteen years old).
One of my speakers was blown by a drunk guest earlier this year (who is not being invited back into this house) when he cranked the volume on my receiver, not realizing the volume knob is out of whack. It took me 30 seconds to locate the remote and turn everything back down, and now the speaker farts. Mrs. Hayes would listen to the TV speakers regardless of what AV system we do or don't use, but I'm not sure I can bring myself to get a sound bar. I'll probably look into a nice set of bookshelf speakers.
I've got a 500-watt "home theater in a box" that is now no longer in use...
I got a cheap-ass receiver and speakers at Goodwill a few months back to try to play my records on. It sounded like shit, so I never really did use it much.
Coming home from dinner with FW, my sister, and BiL on Saturday night and there's a stereo system behind our place with a sign that says "Free, Everything Works". I grabbed it an brought it in. Haven't had a chance to set it up yet, but it has to sound better than what I had.
you can set out your former system and reuse the sign
I snagged a pretty decent old Sansui a few years back. I'm not sure how I'd run the rest of the home audio through it, so it's reserved for vinyl only. My A/V receiver is a mid-1990s Pioneer. Not great, but gets the job done.
I am a little worried about Klay Thompson's confidence. http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/14404850/klay-thompson-golden-state-warriors-names-best-shooting-guard-nba
He's prolly not wrong, tho.

Ricky Rubio has 11 assists.

Does anybody really know what time it is?
Of likely interest to all of you audiophiles.
Saw Star Wars today with the wife.
We both enjoyed it.
I enjoyed it a lot...and was also disappointed.
Sounds like every other Star Wars since the original.
Hence the disappointment.
SW5 was not a disappointment, btw
I can agree with that.
I'm hopeful that it's setting things up for an awesome #8 and #9.
We saw it as a family last night. All 4 of us enjoyed it.
Couple of jarring moments.
Casting and acting, much better than the prequels.
The overall feel reminded me of how I felt watching the original 3 films.
Overall, my initial reaction would say its the best Star Wars movies since The Empire Strikes Back.
