My new(ish) position requires business professional attire; specifically, suit & tie or sport coat & tie while the Legislature's in session. I own three suits that fit (two that don't - I've put on weight since I got out of the Navy) and had no sport coats until last fall. I was pretty excited about a "Buy One, Get TWO Free" ad I saw until I looked at what the "Buy One" would cost ... $650 for a nice wool suit from that purveyor!
I settled for a couple of new pairs of Haggar slacks on-sale for $28. They're polyester, but not hideous, and should get me through the end of session so that I can save up for higher-quality options.

Men's Wearhouse is my friend.
Damn hippie.
The "Buy One, Get TWO" was their competitor, but I purchased two suits at the same time from MW: somehow ended up with one that no longer fits, but another that does.
The other two that fit are marrying-and-burying suits that I purchased (10-years apart) for my sister's wedding in '05 and my brother's wedding a couple months ago. My new S-i-L wanted all the groomsmen's suits to be identical...yeah.
This is why God invented the tuxedo rental.
I got my wedding ensemble last weekend at Jos. A. Bank in big sale. Suit, vest, shirt, tie, and pocket square for approx $350. Still need shoes and a belt. But still, that was about a third of the price of the similar at MW.

Plouffe with a pair of home runs, Suzuki with a double and a home run, Ervin Santana with 5 shutouts innings, including 6 Ks and no BBs. Twins lead Rays 5-0.
Good grief! The wind must be blowing out today. Suzuki with another home run. Twins lead 6-0 in the seventh.
This team should be able to generate some offense. So far this spring, though, Buxton, Santana, Escobar and Murphy have struggled at the plate and all of them figure to get a fair amount of playing time come April.
I'm not worried about Escobar and Murphy and Santana will be backups (if Santana makes the team). Buxton is actually hitting a little better this spring than he did last year. I'm guessing Santana's main contribution will be PR/def. sub for Sano late in games. Rosario and (hopefully) Buxton won't need many days off other than possibly when struggling and facing a tough righty/lefty.
Murphy may be a backup, but Suzuki hasn't hit much, either (yesterday excepted). Not that we should expect him to hit much, but his outs still count.
I don't care about spring training stats. SSS plus practice time.
unless it means cutting Aaron Thompson
Agreed.
Going to my first ever Timberwolves game tomorrow. Got cheap seats. I hope it's a good time.
Worth it to see Karl Anthony Towns.
All I want is pants that are impervious to the jalapeño's amazing skill at putting holes through the knees.
Ugh, if only. We eventually had to stop letting our oldest wear pants unless it got really cold. Of course, a shorts only plan works a lot better in Southern California than it does it Minnesota.
I feel better knowing I'm not the only one with this problem!
The other issue with the jalapeño is that he generally refuses to wear "button pants" (i.e. pants that fasten with a button or snap). Ahhhhh, 5-year-olds!
Which of course means always wearing sweatpants or something similar, which are easier to rip. That sounds exactly like our house, too. Our almost 5 year old started being ok with button pants about a month ago, just out of nowhere. He used to always complain and refuse to wear them, and kind of out of nowhere started wearing them on his own. I think it may have been when he got to the point of being confident in snapping them back up himself
I'm glad to know there's hope when it comes to button pants!
So many pants with holes in the knees for Aquinas. Sooo many.
Doesn't Sears make Toughskins anymore? I remember those things standing up to full-on knee slides across the Central Elementary playground blacktop in kickball and
two-hand touchtackle football. They were also profoundly uncomfortable until broken in or in the summer heat.
