July 12, 2016: All-Stars

Woooooo. Hopefully I won't forget about it like I forgot about the Home Run Derby. My mind isn't back in real life yet. Not that the All-Star Break is "real life," but you feel me.

  1. Shoot, that's tonight? Yeah, I have really not paid much attention to baseball this year. Have the Twins won a game yet?

    1. I just remembered to turn it on, but I've already heard Joe Buck so I'm not sure how long I'll be able to pay attention.

          1. So did the fact that this comment is immediately followed in the sidebar by your next comment about the disco pictures.

        1. I've never been less interested in an All Star game, and my interest keeps dropping.

    1. I only watched his first round, but whew does that young man have some power.

Honestly, I can't wait until Sano is a Derby participant.

    1. We got one a while back so the kids could watch YouTube/Netflix and it gets the job done. It is a little laggy (but nowhere near as slow as the old iPad 2s we still use) and the screen isn't as clear as more expensive products, but those are trade-offs I can live with at the price.

      1. We have an old Nexus 7 for similar purposes. Wondering if this is any better. I don't think the 7 has expandable storage though, which is a big boost for the Fire.

        1. I've been wanting to make a smart mirror for awhile. Maybe I should look at this.

          1. WTF is a smart mirror?

The googles helps me understand that the weather could be displayed as you brush your teeth... Get off my lawn.

        2. Which version? We have the original (2012?) and it's gotten so slow as to be unusable. It has to do with the storage so re-installing doesn't help.

          1. Yeah, I think it's the 2012. It still hobbles along, but wouldn't mind a slight upgrade.

ETA: Oh, you mean the Fire. I was talking about the Nexus. Dunno on the former.

    2. I've had one for almost a year or so. I like it, it's a pretty good workhorse for lower end tablet use. I wish I could sign in to the Google Apps I installed, but having to put them in through the backdoor doesn't allow that.

All in all, though, that's a pretty good price for it.

(I have the seven inch that is on sale, which obviously want when I got it.)

  2. took off at lunch to have the car inspected before selling it (I JUST had it inspected in May, but it was over 60 days ago πŸ™ ) and while walking down the sidewalk I was going to check for emails, but quickly put my cell back in my pocket before someone mistook me for Ash Ketchum or something

  3. Finally got around to checking the air in my Subaru Forester spare tire. We've been out here in H'istan for 11+ years and I've never had to use it, but have replaced the tires a couple of times.

For some reason I thought of it a couple weeks back, and got around to it this afternoon. Good thing, too - it was almost completely flat.

    1. My new e-Golf doesn't even have a spare. It's supplied with a small electric air pump and a canister with stuff that goes in the tire to seal small holes.

  4. A few housekeeping issues:

As the Tuesday Twins Game log person am I responsible for an All-Star Game log? Let me know. I was thinking that was a separate assignment.

I wanted to let the FMDers that my 5 week stint ended this past Friday. I don't know who's next up, but it ain't me. I would be interested in a further rotating slot next time more weeks need to be assigned.
