I am adamantly against players missing MLB games in the middle of the season to participate in the Olympics, but would be okay with participation if it brought the schedule down to 154 games sandwiched around the Olympic tournament. Ultimately, though, I'm not sure both the Olympics and the World Baseball Classic make sense, either for the growth of the game or, stepping outside the sport, the abysmal economic forces attendant with the Olympics.
I'm only half joking. I know they sold the rights, but I honestly couldn't tell you what it's called now. So it's still The Ballpark at Arlington to me. And probably always will be.
While The Cell wasn't exactly a dump, it reminded me of someone finishing up their basement nicely, but leaving the cement walls all showing. And inviting over a bunch of loser brohs to party in it.
Yeah, the Cell is not an ideal place to see a game. The new name is hilarious though. I will be sure to refer to it in its entirety from now on.
I think we should refer to the stadium now as The Big Short.
I thought that was where the Mets play?
I still think of that as Madoff's Palace
It's just a matter of time before we get Preparation H Stadium
This article deals with this from the fan's point of view.
A good Comment: Guar-Anteed Rate Field = GARField.
The White Sox will now be playing in Garfield. You can now buy lasagna in the concession area. Also no games will be played on Mondays.
Instead of sending demoted players to AAA they'll send them to Abu Dhabi.
Anyone here have any opinions on accounting software? I'm basically looking for a program that can accommodate separate logins (one for business account, one for trust account), and makes it easy to keep track of sub-accounts. Being able to access from multiple computers is good too.
Apparently Dozier is just 1 HR away from being the first Twin since Killebrew to hit 12 in a month. And he's 3 away from tying him for most ever in a month.
Berrios and Duffey down to AAA, Albers back up
What's the point? There is nothing to play for this season, why not let them get some practice against major league hitting?
It's Albers' turn.
At some point, you can't just let them keep getting their heads beat in. It's counterproductive. My question is, why not Gonsalves?
I'm with punman. With a week and a half left in the AAA season, this is either pointless or stupid. If they're coming back as September callups, it's pointless--a week and a half in AAA isn't going to do anything for them. If they're not coming back as September callups, or if they're not going into the rotation when they do, then it's stupid. Even if they Twins went on that epic season-ending thirty-five game winning streak, they still wouldn't make the playoffs. The only thing to salvage from this season is to get the young players some experience and get them ready for next year.
I hope you hadn't been looking towards the Twins to help this week.
I hope everybody's alright!
SI's Joe Sheehan presents his argument for MLB approving its players' participation in the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics.

Just when you thought the Rangers had the Worst Ballpark Name derby sewn up, the White Sox dump gasoline on the dumpster fire.

G.R.F., pronounced "gerf"
What's wrong with "The Ballpark at Arlington"?

Actually, you can.
