...is still not here. This store must be busy for a total of about 48 hours a year, if that.

Well, busy season is here, and has been for some time. Today I do my twenty-second funeral of the year. That ties my record, and there's still most of two months of the year to go.
Not the sort of record a person would wish to challenge.
Nor be counted in, root for, or contribute to...
Busy season for mental health services is just opening, I think.
Yeah, we had a guy in the office breaking up yesterday - and other guys making fun of him.
Following up on our minor-mention of Neil Allen's retention by the Twins, here's a pretty great piece from FanGraphs on his philosophy and preferences.
After reading it ... well, I'm really glad they kept him.
Hooray for change-ups. Santana had a lot going on for him, but his change-up was one of my favorite pitches ever. And Radke, especially at the end, was basically getting by on what Allen is talking about--fastball command and a great change-up, and his fastball velocity was low 90s at best.
But at any rate, if he was willing to work with the management in Tampa when they were using more analytics, then it makes sense that Falvey and Levine would want to keep him around.
My busy season started in mid-September, is peaking right now, but won't really drop off until December 20th or so.
The one time I played one of Spooky's anonymous games (run by Phil, but via Spooky's site), my adopted persona worked in a greeting card factory as the glitter artist.
Greetings from Kapahulu. The rainbow papaya my host served for breakfast was incredible.
You're in fruit paradise my friend. Enjoy a hawaiian pizza for me
Just don't tell anger.
Happy to report Primo is a perfectly serviceable beach beer when the sun is going down.
I'll share some positive politics news. I work for a social service agency in the city, so naturally we have a lot of Clinton supporters here. But we also have several Trump supporters. And they're all great people who do good work.
One of our Clinton supporters has been devastated the past two days, not doing well mental health wise. One of our Trump supporters (who has been chastised quite a bit this week) reached out to her to provide support and they wound up having a really good conversation about shared values and whatnot.
I love this place.
Jeff A likes this.
Nice. Work has been a strange place since Tuesday.
So . . . how about those Timberwolves? I'm taking the jalapeno to Sunday's game, so please tell me everything I need to know!
(About the team. I do know how basketball works.)
I wouldn't plan on sticking around for the fourth quarter. Wolves have either won by blowout, making the fourth quarter irrelevant, or lost in the final minutes.
We stuck around during the blowout. There's too much young, exciting talent on the team for me to walk.
I'd love to know some of the names of the young, exciting talent we should be keeping an eye out for! π
They're called "The Lynx."
As usual, Novak's sky is falling (but that was a pretty okay joke, so it's all good).
Our best all-around player is Karl-Anthony Towns, a powerful center who shoots well and pulls down a lot of rebounds. He will score the most points on the team if it isn't one of Zach Lavine's hot nights. Lavine is a guard. He doesn't go inside very often because at 6'5" he's...you know...a short guy. He hits a lot of threes when he's on, although players like this can sometimes be frustrating when they're not. Andrew Wiggins is a forward in his third season who keeps improving on his game. He was the return when we traded Kevin Love. He isn't Kevin Love yet, but I feel like we're seeing some signs that he could be someday. Gorgui Dieng is a power forward who pulls down the rebounds Towns doesn't get.
Tyus Jones is a point guard who will look tiny on the court at 6'2". He isn't likely to get a ton of minutes (he's still improving) but he'll be a hometown favorite because he's from Apple Valley.
Well, Tyus did play 30 minutes against Orlando, so I would expect to continue to see that until Rubio gets back.
You also forgot to mention Dunn, this year's fifth draft pick who everyone thinks will supplant Ricky despite being a worse shooter, passer and floor general.
I realized later I overlooked Dunn. And yeah, I guess I don't know what to expect as it relates to Tyus's usage right now.
I guess he played 18 minutes in the game I attended, which was more than I suspected. I've missed the last couple of games due to my schedule but the next couple should be better.
Awesome, thank you for these notes. I'm especially excited to cheer for Dieng. I would do so in Wolof, but unfortunately my language skills are geared more toward inquiring about a person's health, bargaining for goods, and rejecting offers of marriage.
I would bring ear plugs/protection. IIRC, the pumped in music is awfully loud, if not Metrodome for the Vikings loud.
Hmm. I can't say I came away with that at all, but it's possible seating has something to do with it.
Cavs got to meet Obama today to celebrate their title. Interesting that it was Love that presented the jersey to Obama. I would have figured Lebron or even Irving. I always figured those 2 were considered more of the leaders of the team more than Love. I am glad that Love got his ring much in the way I was glad when KG got his ring with the Celtics.
R. I. P. ex-Twin Russ Nixon, at the age of eighty-one.
RIP Leonard Cohen.
Gah!
Damn.
Let's face it, when David Bowie dies in the first 10 days of the year, it's going to be bad.
I saw this posted yesterday morning on Facebook, and by nightfall it was outdated:
I thought there was no Hag, but maybe that's him in the center-back right in front of Anton Yelchin ("Chekov")?
I think you are right. Although it kind of looks like Clint Eastwood too.
at last check, Clint Eastwood is still alive. that's definitely plausibly Merle.
