We'll get it in where we can, and that's now. What's your pre-holiday fare? For that matter, what's your holiday fare? Do I own Planes, Trains and Automobiles? If so, I should pop it in tonight.

My holiday movie is Emmet Otter's Jugband Christmas.
Only movie I saw was Deadpool. That was fun. Also saw the last 30 minutes of The Walk. JGL with a Parisian accent is just weird. But man, that would be a treat (i.e. terrifying) in IMAX.
I saw Certain Women a couple of weeks ago. It was pretty slow and had three story arcs that maybe sort of hung together if you used a telescope. But that's cool, Kelly Reichardt, the Director, is known for that kind of movie. The characters were fantastic and one of the actresses pulled off a heartbreaking performance.
The reason I bring this up is because the couple behind us was extremely rude. They obviously didn't like the movie and proceeded to talk about their dislike during the film and then afterward in very loud voices so that everyone could hear them opine that it was one of the worst movies they've ever seen (obviously they've never seen Peter Jackson's atrocity of a King Kong movie). Dude, I'm sorry there weren't asplosions and stuff but even a little bit of research would've told you that this was a movie pretty much as advertised. Also like I said, you missed out on some interesting characters.
Going to see Arrival tonight or Saturday. That flick might be worth having it's own discussion post.
Rewatched The Sting over a couple of nights this past week. Dang that's a good movie.
Working my way through Black Mirror. Each episode has messed with me in varying ways. Thank goodness people aren't quite as organized or effective as they would have to be for that show to be reality.
...
?
!
That's what I'm saying.
Black Mirror
I've made it through the first three. Just watched "The Entire History of You" last night. First one I've watched start-to-finish.
EAR couldn't take the first one and the second one, the blurb had me steeled for something even worse to come to the one female and I couldn't take it that night, so I stopped right when the ticket was to be redeemed.
Yeah, they stick with you a bit.
Yeah, I've watched the first five episodes, and the second one is by far the most hard hitting to me, even if a lot of the way that society seems to operate make only the slightest but of sense upon thinking back on it.
We saw Moonlight this weekend. Ive been pretty despondent since Election Day, depressed that more than ever our nation can't seem to agree to disagree anymore. I knew what I was getting into with this movie, but the emotional payoff was even greater than I expected. The performances are outstanding top to bottom, and will wrench all the emotions you have.
I've been watching Westworld and I like it a lot. Interesting premise and they've got me curious as to where the hell they're going with everything.
Meaning to start that. Gotta figure out my (or my dad's) HBO password.
That's still high on my list to start watching, too, but still haven't found the time to start it.
Watched Zodiac this week; lots of great actors in this flic. Doctor Strange is a fun addition to the Marvel universe. Mr. Nobody is waiting for me to pick up at the library.
Hoping to see Arrival at some point soon.
I/We don't have holiday fare. Our idea of a holiday movie is whatever has come out during the holidays that we would enjoy that we can go matinee together.
I loved Mr. Nobody. Weird flick, but it worked 100% for me.
I enjoyed it. Odd but entertaining in much the same vein as Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Saw Arrival on Friday.
* I saw Ant Man while holed up in a cabin with some friends. I thought it was good. Paul Rudd is affable and Kate is less annoying here than she was in Lost. I don't love it quite as much as some did, but it's an upper half Marvel movie for me.
* Saw Sausage Party at the same weekend. Eeehhhh.......the praise was really reaching. It's all very low aiming and obvious stuff, and the humor is hit or miss. It was weird, for what that's worth.
* Linds and I watched Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates. Very stupid, sometimes in a good way, often times in just a stupid way. Anna Kendrick is good, Aubrey Plaza is not particularly. Zac Efron has okay comedic timing, but he's no Channing Tatum.
* Watched Deadpool again. Still fun.
* Watched 22 Jump Street again. Still fun.
* Linds and I are a couple of episodes from the end of Stranger Things. I like it, but it feels kind of slight so far. The kids are pretty good, and the moments of levity are always appreciated. I dunno, it just doesn't quite hit the suspense or dread that I feel like it's going for.
Stranger Things started off strong for me, but faded down the stretch for a number of reasons. Plus, everything with the
was really cheesy. Like, bad 90s CGI cheesy.
I think the theme is awesome. Why don't I have that on my iPod?
I was going to buy the soundtrack. I've heard the first half hour or so of it, and it's pretty great.
BBC via Netflix series Doctor Foster is pretty awesome to me. Taking some of that few-episode BBC series intensity (Luther, Sherlock, some others) and applying it not to serial killers and criminal masterminds but things closer to real life.
I've been watching BBC's take on Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency; I enjoyed Douglas Adams' books, and this series is loosely based on the idea. Entertaining so far.
