WBC Update:
Pool F: VEN 2 - 4 USA
Pat Neshek got the win, pitching the top of the 8th with the Americans down 1-2. They scored 3 in the bottom off Homers by Adam Jones and Eric Hosmer.
Tonight: VEN-DOM. The loser here is mostly eliminated (unless there's a 3-way tie for 2nd).
Only half watching but I think the manager went to the mound to talk to Rendon (and others) twice that inning. I'm sure by the second time, Rendon was wondering, are you sure you're not taking me out? Right after that, boom, 2nd dinger.
Rondon. He was relieved by Rondón.
However, MLB.com tells me their names are pronounced the same. Bruce must just insist on the accent because he has an Anglo first name and has his last name pronounced "Ron-Don" (a spondee?) otherwise.
Hector probably hasn't suffered that problem.
Rondon.
I was pretty sure I was wrong, but couldn't be bothered to look it up apparently (he was a good fantasy pickup for me for a time).
I totes <3 neshek, and I'm glad to see he's still in the game.
To repeat an old comment, on my first spring training game years ago in Fort Myers I got his autograph before game time and mentioned that I contributed to a Twins blog -- WGOM. He said he knew of it and to say good things about him, which of course I did and continue to do to this day.
And when I got married, he sent me a signed baseball and told me he would always check my blog for his WPA.
stories like these are just part of why we love him.
as noted on Bookface by our resident Cheetah Man, it's Saint Urho's Day. Rejoice!
Conor Oberst's new album is up on NPR first listen. Apparently he needs an adversarial president to do his best work.
I always enjoy seeing a bunch of Stone Cold Stunner GIFs on Twitter on 3:16, especially if it is Scott Hall or The Rock on the receiving end.
Love this weekend. Go gophers.
Tough loss.
That was the best 12 seed I've ever seen.
I don't think Thibs will admit it, but it is "wait til next year" time for the Wolves.
Yep, thats all she wrote for this year. Last night's loss coupled with Dallas and Portland wins pretty much sealed the deal.
Tomorrow will be my first colonoscopy. Dr. Fear said that I'm due given my age.
For breakfast today I had black tea. For lunch I had sparkling water. In a half hour, dinner will be first dose of Suprep Bowel Prep kit followed by 32 oz of H2O in the following hour. Then tomorrow, repeat it all again at 5:30AM. The procedure will be at noon tomorrow.
Kids these days and their sip of Prep and 32 oz of water. Back in my day, we chugged a gallon of prep. And we LIKED IT.
Did you ever do it just for kicks? I doubt it.
just for kicks shits and grins. FTFM
Ohoho
Apparently no one does the poop in a box method. Nothing intrusive or cleansing. Just get a little dab will do ya and send it off in the mail.
The VA still does it that way. Source: two colonoscopies in the last two years.
My hope is that when my day comes, they will have determined a humane replacement for this procedure.
I just got an invitation this week to schedule my second one, because I'm privileged to be on the 5-yr plan. And real men guzzle the gallon of colon blast.
I was thinking about maybe watching a movie to help pass the time.
How bout:
The Perfect Storm
Unstoppable
The Heat and the Fury
Splash
Fast and Furious
I can't stop laughing at this.
An Inconvenient Truth
Blow Out
Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day
Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials
Too Much, Too Soon
Get Out
Game of Thrones
You just earned yourself a WGOM sawbuck
The second dose was far worse for this boyo.
To continue the thought, the prep was far worse than the actual procedure.
Agreed. Chucking down the required water on dose 2 at 5:30AM was tough.
Just went in at 11:15, and out at 1:25.
Before the anesthesia kicked in:
Me: Is this the part where they start counting down from 100?
She: You can if you want.
Me: zzzzz
Whole thing was Easy Peasy. Dr. G.I. said no polyps, and see you again in 10 years.
Nice Bufflehead shot at the MOU. And a dandy Spruce Grouse.
You failed to remark on the snazzy looking Shoveler.
And I got mentioned on this one back in January.

so, how are polyps removed in that method?
Colon Blow is the way to go.

20 years ago today, Homer became the Beer Baron.
