Well, I still saw a game at Target Field, and hung out with Dread Pirate for the seventh inning. Plus, I was one single short of a blackout in Twingo. Plus, today is my fifteen year anniversary of quitting smoking, if you allow for a pack's worth of cigarettes in that span (though none since 2009 or so).

I got the "Aces Through The Years" header this morning. Looks like it needs to be updated.
Were there any others 2014-16? I don't think so...
answer: yes, there were.
Provus went through the list, from John Moses on up, noting the 20-year gap.
1/9th way through the season, currently on pace for...
- 54 game winning streak
- 0 wins by Kyle "Bob" Gibson
- 18 games out of first
- 800% stolen base percentage
I think Nabob (pronounced "Nay-Bob") might work as a nickname for Li'l Gibby.
Does he natter?
Of negativity!
You know you live in a small town when everybody gets excited about the opening of a Dollar General store.
Randomly was watching Netflix last night, and caught a couple Comedians in Cars Drinking Coffee; one fascinating story was that Bob Einstein ("Super" Dave Osbourne) has a father who was a comedian -- Harry Einstein ("Parkyakarkas'), who died following his tribute at a Lucy & Desi Arnaz Friars Roast.
I was randomly watching an old Johnny Carson rerun last night, and saw Siskel & Ebert on it. Fascinating. Only clip I could find is here.
Harry Einstein was a prominent figure in The Comedians, a history of stand-ups.
This week I will do my tenth funeral of the year. Last year I set a personal record with twenty-three. I'm on track to smash that this year. Funerals are satisfying, in their way, and it's nice to be able to be there for people when they need someone. But I'm sure ready for the pace to slow down.
You might have to talk to the boss about that one.
make that The Boss
I have come to realize that these things rarely happen at times that accommodate my schedule.
My favorite people: the ones who show up 20 minutes after we open on a day where we've advertised that we'll have an extremely hot item, and blame the asset protection guy up front for the fact that they didn't get one.
Even better: I've seen the same guy do the same thing before. He's well acquainted with the concept of lines forming before a place opens.
I need an NES Classic (I've obtained two for coworkers, but have come up empty for myself), but I wasn't about to get up at 7 am or whatever to line up today.
I'm completely against lining up in general. Like, if I can't get one without camping out in front of Big Blue then I really probably don't need it. And if I do, the NES classic aside, they'll be available and cheaper later.
(although that's not to say I care that other people are willing to do it.)
It CAN be fun, but I would prefer not to deal with it. I really want an NES Classic but I have most of the games on it so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Since the jalapeno has suddenly become interested in baseball, I brought up the idea of going to a Twins game. It turns out he really, really wants to go to a night game. So I'm looking at either Friday 5/19 or Friday 5/26. If anyone else is interested in going either of those dates, let me know!
So this happened. Maybe FZ, but it sends an interesting message pulling down controversial monuments in the middle of the night under the protection of police snipers.
Not an equivalent, but that story reminded of this one.
