Does a playoff-bound team drop three out of five to a club with a sub-.400 winning percentage in late August?

It happens. I'm not predicting the Twins will make the playoffs, but it happens. That's what makes baseball different from other sports--the worst team can win a series even from the best team. That would never happen in the NFL or the NBA, but it happens in baseball.
Yeah, "playoff bound team" isn't the term I'd use for the Twins. A team that could make the playoffs? Yeah.
"playoff-bounded" perhaps?
Playoff wishful?
That's exactly the point CH is making: Are they "Playoff-bound" if they've lost 3 of 5 to the Sox?
From the current standings...yes, they are. But no one would make that their first choice of terms for the Twins.
I love that folks are taking the question posed in both directions.
Don Denkinger: Safe.
Mike Estabrook: Hold my beer. Out.

At least it wasn't in the playoffs.
They are still the second wild card team. (because the other WC teams also stink)
Today I am exactly as old Florence Henderson the day The Brady Bunch debuted: 13,008 days.
No match for me, but I loved this one:
Country singer Willie Nelson is exactly as old as Uranus since it completed one orbit around the sun (30,799 days).
It rains solid diamonds on Uranus and Neptune
Tonight's Twins game live on Facebook??
So, I fixed my daughter's BMW last night. Those new cup holders and sun visor clips really pull the interior together, man.
Bryon Buxton first half: .195/.269/.283/.552
Byron Buxton second half: .322/.365/.548/.913
He may be hitting his stride.
It will be interesting to see where he bats when Sano returns.
Dozier
Buxton
Mauer
Sano
Rosario
Kepler

I would have Mauer behind Buxton just to give Buxton a chance to steal a base before Sano bops him home.
