VENEZUELAN LEAGUE

Twins:  Willians Astudillo (Anzoategui) was 2-for-3 with a run.

LARA 3, MAGALLANES 1 IN MAGALLANES

Four consecutive singles produced two Lara runs in the first inning and that was all they needed.  Raul Rivero pitched 5.1 scoreless innings, giving up five hits and striking out three.

ANZOATEGUI 7, ARAGUA 1 IN ARAGUA

Anzoategui took a 2-0 lead in the third and scored four in the eighth to put the game out of reach.  Rafael Ortega was 3-for-5.  Fernando Cruz pitched five shutout innings, giving up two hits and two walks and striking out three.

ZULIA 1, LA GUAIRA 0 IN ZULIA

Reynaldo Rodriguez singled home the game's only run in the third inning.  Charlie Rosario pitched six shutout innings, giving up two hits and striking out five.  For La Guaira, Jonathan Albaladejo pitched seven innings, giving up one run on seven hits and a walk and striking out one.

MEXICAN LEAGUE

JALISCO 8, OBREGON 7 IN OBREGON

Jalisco scored seven in the fourth to take a 7-1 lead and held on.  Obregon cut the lead to 8-7 in the seventh but did not get the tying run on base.  For Obregon, Isaac Paredes was 2-for-4 with a home run.  Moises Gutierrez also hit a home run for Obregon.

CULIACAN 11, LOS MOCHIS 6 IN LOS MOCHIS

Los Mochis led 4-3 after one, but Culiacan scored twice in the second and led the rest of the way.  D'Arby Myers was 5-for-5 with a walk, a triple, and two home runs, scoring three times and driving in five.  Issmael Salas was 3-for-4 with a walk and a home run (his second), scoring three times.  Alexis Wilson was 2-for-4 with a walk and scored three times.

MAZATLAN 1, HERMOSILLO 0 IN MAZATLAN

Erick Rodriguez singled home the game's only run in the second inning.  Roy Merritt pitched 6.2 scoreless innings, giving up two hits and five walks and striking out five.  For Hermosillo, David Holmberg pitched five innings, giving up one run on four hits and striking out four.

MEXICALI 4, NAVOJOA 3 IN MEXICALI

Luis Juarez hit a two-run homer in the sixth to break a 2-2 tie.  Juarez was 2-for-4 with a double in addition to his seventh home run.  Javier Solano pitched 6.1 innings, giving up three runs on nine hits and striking out six.

AUSTRALIAN LEAGUE

PERTH 5, CANBERRA 3 IN CANBERRA (10 INNINGS)

Perth scored two in the ninth to tie it 3-3 and then used the goofy "start with men on first and second" rule to win it in the tenth.  Michael Brosseau's two-run double brought home the lead runs.  Jake Fraley was 2-for-4 with a walk and a home run, his fifth.  Alex Boshers pitched six innings, giving up three runs (two earned) on four hits and striking out four.  For Canberra, Brian Grening struck out seven in seven innings, giving up one run on seven hits.
