Garrett Whitley hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the sixth to break a 7-7 tie. Melbourne got a pair of solo homers in the eighth but did not get the tying run past first base. For Perth, Alex Hall was 3-for-4. Whitley was 2-for-3 with a double and two walks in addition to the home run, which was his eighth. Ulrich Bojarski was 2-for-4 with a double and a three-run homer, his fourth. Luke Hughes hit a home run, his thirteenth. For Melbourne, Tyler Neslony was 5-for-5 with two home runs (his eighth and ninth) and three RBIs. Daryl George was 3-for-5 with a double and a home run, his seventh. Canberra scored three in the fifth to take a 5-1 lead. Brisbane scored three in the seventh to make it 5-4 and had the tying run on second in the seventh and eighth.
